  • Additional confirmation is always encouraging.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • "Step 11
Populating the board, we find this fittingly Lilliputian array of chips:
STMicroelectronics STM32F439ZI 180 MHz, 32 bit ARM Cortex CPU
Macronix MX69V28F64 128 Mb flash memory
    InvenSense MPU-6500 6-axis gyroscope / accelerometer
Broadcom BCM4334WKUBG dual-band 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0+HS, FM receiver combo chip
Maxim Integrated MAX77836 (the same chip we found in the Gear 2—likely the micro-USB interface controller and Li+ battery charger)
    Melfas 8FM006A (likely touchscreen controller)
Texas Instruments 1211A1 standalone USB transceiver chip"

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • "Step 16
SWEP GRG28 antenna switch module (thanks Chipworks)
Qualcomm WTR1625L RF transceiver (another encore from the HTC One M8) and...
    Qualcomm WFR1620 receive-only companion chip
    Qualcomm PMC8974
    Lattice LP1KSD 84071R25
    Invensense MP65M gyroscope/accelerometer
    Qualcomm WCD9320 audio codec
SIMG 8240B0 mobile HD-link transmitter and NXP 47803 NFC controller"

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • I think we already got this - I wasn't sure if it came from Ifixit:

    "Step 11 ¶
    Small package, lotta power:
Samsung KMF5X0005M (likely DRAM package with 1 GHz dual-core CPU layered beneath)
    Motorola MPS14X 60X5V3 1410WeC
Maxim Integrated MAX77836 (likely micro-USB interface controller and Li+ battery charger)
STMicroelectronics 32F401B 32 bit ARM Cortex MCU
    0225E8 E225B4
    BCD Semiconductor Y831 audio codec
    InvenSense MP65M 6-axis gyroscope / accelerometer"

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Look at this chart:
    1. A "W" is forming in the price - when the right hand of the "W" is formed it usually keeps going.
    2. MFI or Money Flow is generally a contrary indicator - it is now at about 35 down from 75.
    3. Stochs is almost at 20. Since Jan 13 every time it has hit 20 it has gone significantly higher.

I hear the Galaxy S5 has a much better sensor package.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Early Galaxy S5 sales healthy; Synaptics, InvenSense outperform • 2:53 PM

U.S. first-day Galaxy S5 sales were up 30% relative to first-day S4 sales a year ago, Samsung (SSNLF) declares. The electronics giant also states sales in certain other markets doubled Y/Y.
Pac Crest's checks also paint a favorable picture of U.S. S5 sales: The firm estimates average inventory sell-through hit 60% within four hours, and thinks sales were especially strong at Verizon thanks to a 2-for-1 promotion.
Needham thinks S5 sales could reach 10M sales in 25 days vs. 27 for the S4. The firm is reiterating a Buy on touch controller/fingerprint sensor supplier Synaptics (SYNA +3.7%).
Two caveats: 1) Samsung's numbers typically measure sell-in to carriers/distributors rather than consumer sell-through. 2) S4 sales also got off to a hot start, but later slowed down.
Compared with the S4, Samsung has taken a no-frills approach with the S5, emphasizing practical features such as waterproofing/dust-resistance over sensor-based features (Smart Pause, Smart Scroll, etc.) often derided as gimmicks. The company has also provided modest discounts relative to the S4 (the S5 still typically goes for $600+ unsubsidized), as it contends with aggressive high-end pricing from Chinese Android rivals.
Synaptics is outperforming, as is motion sensor supplier InvenSense (INVN +1.7%), which gets over 30% of its revenue from Samsung. S5 OLED materials supplier Universal Display (OLED +0.6%) is up slightly. Synaptics reports on April 24, and InvenSense on May 1."

Actually it is equal to NASDAQ over the past month. So trading with the market means we have two big opportunities here. 1. Market goes up. 2. INVN reports a good quarter and guidance on 5/1

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Over the past month while INVN is down 5% more than the NASDAQ it is relatively strong compared to a number of other tech stocks that have been hot in their sectors for the past 6 months.

CEO Abdi forecast revenue growth for the fiscal year that just began April 1 of 25-35%. Much of that is based on giant volumes going into new products, a lot in the second half to increased value in the 6 axis chip with algorithms and software, which has an ASP about double the 6500 and some asp declines year over year.

What he did not forecast in was the win of a new OEM which he said is near, wearables and new voice applications. That will be gravy on top of terrific volumes and revenues.

The road show he took to analysts meetings during March produced a significant number of upgrades to the $27-28 range. Look for a beat on revenue and eps for the March quarter and increased guidance when earnings are announced on May 1.

In the meantime, hold on. Nasty market right now.

Wouldn't you really like to know how the collusion on this pull back worked? Although, I do think yesterday and today's pull back was caused by the rule requirement that banks need to ante up another $58B for their reserves to protect from another melt down. They were reserving 3% now it's going to 5%. That has the same effect as an interest rate rise since less money is now available. But these two days are in reaction to that. I do believe that this is all overdone - and any pull back required because of too high valuation deserved to hit some stocks but not all stocks equally. The economy is strong and getting stronger. The Fed is not going to raise rates anytime soon. Look for the markets to rise strongly if 1Q earnings are good - which they should be. INVN - yes, it will be among the strongest of all stocks over the next month.

Hanging Around the 50 Day MA....

Hey rmm: "Apple rumors will drive this just like late last summer."

Soon what will be driving it is Apple reality. The rumors are out there, confirmation will be coming in multiple products beginning in June and through year end. My guess is we have the iwatch for a 6 or 7 axis sensor, a slot for 6 axis in the iPhone 6S, and maybe an audio slot.

I think the rumors last year about the iPhone were right, it's the product that was delayed for a number of reasons. Abdi and other management hinted Apple all last year for good reason - they know they're getting a win or multiple wins there. And that's what happens when INVN gets an in - they get multiple wins because of their competence and value.

That article has it about right. And INVN is on track to exceed expectations.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Everything looks to be calming down today. Think things keep moving from here - given INVN will have ridiculous swings during the day and minute to minute with spreads of 8 to 10 cents on 1 - 20 shares.

  • Like seeing the details spelled out. This teardown from EETimes.

"The phone also comes with a bevy of new sensors, and we were excited to discover Maxim’s new Heart Rate Biosensor OS21A in our device. In addition to the Maxim socket win, we found leading parts from Invensense (MPU-65006-Axis integrated gyroscope and accelerometer), Silicon Image’s Sil8240 MHL 2.0 transmitter with HDMI input, the NXP PN547 NFC controller, and two wins by Intel with the X-Gold 636/PMB-9820 Baseband Processor and Power Management and the SMARTi UE3/PMB 5745 GSM/WCDMA RF transceiver"

As suspected. Terrific day for INVN. The deeper we go into the month the stronger INVN will get - as tear downs materialize right up to earnings, which will be stronger and guidance which will be great.
