Well, I run scans on all the major sectors and indices daily and VNQ is, (was) the best performing major index/sector over the last 3 months. Personally, I don't try to read too much into daily volatility or even short terms swings. I certainly have no idea what millions of traders are thinking when they buy and sell so I don't try to analyze rationally what is happening. All I know is the VNQ has been a very strong performer over the last 3 months and gained nearly 30% year over year. Thats a very strong performance. Could just be some profit taking, not necessarily having anything to do with macro or micro fundamentals.

It did break the 50 day moving average but closed above it. If it sails below the 200 day moving average that could be a significant signal. Wait and see.

Today, Feb. 24, VEA (Developed Markets ex USA), VWO (Emerging Markets) SPY (USA Large Cap), TLT, (Long Bonds) all go up.

Only VNQ, REITS go down 2%

I like the decoupling of REITS against stocks and bonds. Nice variation.

    Forget the reasons why...don't matter.
