I think you missed understand the meaning in the original article. It did not say the smart glasses is Google glasses. It just said they are waiting for their client to introduce the product in Q2, it might be other companies.
The question is did they meet with the management of HIMX or they just collect information from other companies. Some companies they cited did not even report their results yet. So it is doubtful, their opinion will be correct IMHO.
I am not surprised that the date is set at Feb. 13, think about Chinese Luna New Year is at the end of Jan. Almost all companies shut down for long vacation (at least 7 days), do you expect that once they come back from long vacation, they will report earning right away? This is the culture difference between Taiwan and America.
I think they are going to beat the 9 cents earning, because all other competitor in Taiwan beat their earning due to rush orders last Nov. Dec. If the guidance is meeting or exceed expectation, then it might explode upward. I am selling Feb 13 Put for some pocket change.
I do not think Google can buy HIMX. Google only hold stake at the subsidiary of HIMX, not the whole comapny stock. Beside, if you were HIMX CEO, do you want to give up a comapny with everything is going for you. Not likely. IMO, hold on for the ride.
This make sense now. Remember one Chinese article I posted saying the Google glasses maybe coming out next January !!
This is the same opening as the job fair on Dec. 26, 2013 sponsored by Tainan City Gov. This is just for production line technicians. Other openings are for for sale, R&D, and service engineer. That is more important. Cheer
The listed positions are service and sale not manufacturing. They do not want their technology stolen by others I guess??
The last day for tax sell is yesterday, it took 3 BD to settle the trade. Counting Dec. 27, 30 and 31. The last day to do for tax purpose is yesterday. Good luck.
One of the article is about HIMX, which said it joined a research and development on colored electronic paper with Tainan University, and other companies that involved in manufacture and equipment makers. It could be a new area that HIMX want to break in for future display technology.
It stated in the case of Google Glass, Taiwanese components companies will not benefit too much, the only one is HIMX.
I read the article in Chinese and found your title is not quite matching the report ( Chinese is my first language). The article speculate that Microsoft is working on wearable but did not said Microsoft is using HIMX parts at all. Please look at the table on the beginning of the article. On the last column it also shown which companies will benefit from Kinect glass, which are Foxcom and ASUS. I assume you use Google translate, sometime it could not give you true meaning of the article. But I still added more shares today.
