  • To follow up on great post by view_from_afar, keep in mind that Sony products are sold in over 2800 online stores in the USA ALONE!

If Sony online retailors just carry only 200 MP-CL1 in all 2800+ stores and sell them, that is 560,000 MP-CL1 sold in the USA only. Thats only estimating 200 unites per store. Then turn to China, Hong Kong and the rest of the world that sells Sony products. This is one of many products that Sony will introduced using PicoP technology.

    MicroVision Facebook

Great review of the Sony pico projector incorporating MicroVision's PicoP display technology. The reviewer notes: "It seems that the laser projection system in this little guy really makes a difference as far as brightness is concerned."

Just to remember, MicroVision is sitting on a new engine smaller and way way way brighter in Redmond Washington as explained to us at ASM and 2nd CC 2015. Let the fun begin. OEMs on their knees to see it???

  • Sony MP-CL1 projector review 4.5 Stars

    Our Verdict

The Sont MP-CL1 provides a sharp, clear picture in an extremely pocketable form factor. Combined with a premium feel, this little guy may turn some heads.

Sony's MP-CL1 offers great value for those looking for an extremely portable projector. Between its sharp, laser-projected picture, wireless connectivity and $350 list price, the MP-CL1 seemingly beats out similar small form factor projectors in its price range, like the LG PH300 and ZTE SPro. As long as you're willing to acknowledge that the MP-CL1 isn't meant to compete with the big dogs in the projector space, its few shortcomings are fairly easy to look past, especially when considering the ability to simply slip it in your pocket and go.

Can you image Sony's roadmap for this projector and other products they will introduce.

luderella I disagree with you on that. They have been developing multiple products with PicoP technology from many of their divisions and engine developement and making their own green lasers. Goes way behind $100mill. Product development is costly to start, especially many products imo :)

  • Its my humble opinion but when we announced we had 50 oems interested in our technology many months ago, try to remember that Sony has been involved with us since 2012 or earlier, Could thses OEMs that love our tech be Sony's customers????? Try to understand that Sony invested way over $100 mill into PicoP tech, they are now starting to show first of many products throughout theirr global website of the MPCL1 going to market in Oct. Sony has 100's of customers, they have connections. They love PicoP but MicroVision has the brians to bring them to the land of OZ. Without us, they cant do it. At ASM we were told a brighter smaller engine behind our belief is in MVIS headquaters, not in Sonys. I believe we will work with other major oems as well to created products in all fields of appilcations..everyone gets a piece as we spread our tenticles long and wide throught the worlds top industries. We were showing 40 lumen from kits published on the net a few months asm and CC 2nd Q, we were told we were hitting brightness far behind what we can take is we are way above 40-50-60-70 and behind in lumen range. So OEMs are lining up to get us to help them build products around our roadmap and prototypes..time will tell but MVIS in stealth mode tells me my research is making me smile. Asia baby!!

  • Better keep a close EYE on this

Samsung’s already released two versions of the Gear VR, which rely on a Galaxy smartphone to power the experience and provide the display. The company also recently patented a new headset with its own built-in display along with a projector, biometric scanners and more.

We’re not really sure what to expect from Samsung when it comes to its next steps in virtual reality. With Sony, HTC and Oculus all gearing up to release powerful VR headsets next year, it’s time for the Galaxy-maker to unleash an exciting new product of its own.

    I love technology!!
