    Paradigm $hift

Speaking of the Roth conference. I found it a little out of place that Andy threw in briefly the reminder about Plugs history and patents. I understand its a positive but with all the changes occurring it was very interesting he reminded people of the 160 some tech and infrastructure patents. Wonder if the Auto industry-Plugs patents-Trip to China might be correlated together with a present potential capitalization increase. Maybe a licencing deal involving patents in Asia? Just found it peculiar with the rest of the presentation.

At any point in the next 9 mths news of break even could occur. Andy has acknowledged his past tendencies being overly optimistic on a number of occasions lately. I think it is possible Plug reaches break even before their predicted goal of 4th qtr. Andy is playing it safe with the goals but he is doing something arguably more important. He set the bar at break even for the market to digest.

What's it take to break even?
    What's it take for profitability?
How is it broken down? (Genkey, Gencare, Genfuel, Genfund)

Plug Power is more than likely headed towards break even, then profititablity, and finally expansion. As this grows closer the share price is likely to grow. As the confidence level increases the opportunity for low cost avg. decreases. This is a well known stock, one way or another, it might not provide much time after market perception has changed. Especially since Andy set their bar giving analysts numbers to crunch. I feel the best near term (within the year) profit can be reached by beating this perception change and most certainly before the reality of Plug Powers success fully settles.

  • Would be a great if Andy had an ace up his sleeve. Imagine sugar coating the recent improvements with a master sales agreement or partnership in Asia in front of a room full of investors with only 30 min of after hrs trading left. I know it might be a longshot...but its fun to think about.

    Conferences never help stock prices

I am sorry bearposer88, the fact that I brought up an event that's actually occurring soon, in a stock I am invested in, and have been following since 2013 must make me a "pumper". Reality is the microscopic percentage of retail investors who still use this forum for discussion couldn't move the market cap even a fraction of a 1/10 of a cent. I found this stock near bankruptcy and watched the moves it has made since.
What I do think will "pump" this stock up. Is the large number of institutions who found recent security in last week's significantly improved numbers. As the year plays out, as the share price climbs, I feel bigger blocks of trades will cross the tape. This could build stronger support and crush levels of resistance. I see more optimism in the near term than anything else. If I didn't my attention would be spent elsewhere, logically there are reasons why supporters and skeptics follow any events of a company. I am not holding just 1k shares here. Do what you want with your money...but I will keep a close watch on mine.

    Roth conference webcast tomorrow

Thanks JMI wasn't sure if it was typical. I am looking forward to hearing what Andy has to say following last week's call. Still awaiting clarity on Andy's past comments involving "Rebranding" . Maybe he might include this subject.

  • This includes a webcast. Are webcast common for Plug at these events or does Marsh have something extraordinary to present?

    What's the Risk/Reward for short/long Plug now?

    joelew25 joelew25 Mar 14, 2016 7:01 AM Flag

I think the odds are well in favor of longs now. This is the place to buy, not after all the optimism comes into play. I would rather be in at $2 than $5.

  • At this price level ($2) until...break even (3rd or 4th qtr)? How about profitability? First half of 2017, maybe sooner. New distribution centers from any fortune 500 type company could benefit greatly from Plug powers model. I can't see the logic in betting against Plug Power. Especially with costs going down and margins improving. Riding the break even wave, throughout 2016 and past, seems like a good play. As the path towards profitability grows closer....eventually profitability becomes inevitable....finally Plug will be competing against its own record profitable qtrs.

There is alot of money out there that sees this, thanks to the recent 2015 yearly earnings call. The rest of the doubt will be squashed as the tax credit extensions through 2021 are passed. Imagine the comfort level from current and new investors in Plug. What will potential new investors fear? Where could panic come from? The fear level just isn't the same anymore...and it might not even exist then. (Fear being short)

Great post!! Thanks for the heads up. Tempted by some sharp moving stocks but maintained my full position in Plug going into the 10th (something I haven't always decided to do).

We are going to find out details of this credit facility this week, guessing it will serve a significant purpose, otherwise it wouldn't of been done. Recent visits by congressman of both parties at Plugs facility might have played a big role in Plugs decision to move forward with this. Any form of debt can stir up the share price of any stock. This was done with strategy not desperation. Tax credit is icing on the cake, like skipping a couple grades in school.

"Genfund", was talked about last yr, this company recently added a second shift, all of this will tie into Andy's suggestion of 2016 bringing swift growth. Short term price movement will obviously be volatile. The purchases you mentioned in your post are on the higher end of the recent trading levels, but you are positioned well if/when the market decides Plug deserves the next leg up. My opinion is 2016 will bring an uptrend to share price, the tax credit could bring a significant spike along with estimated end of year break-even/profitability. Do what your comfortable with but I suggest patience over fear with this one.

2016 is locked in. The tax credit extension (through 2021) could really ignite Plug. They anticipate pulling 500 million in rev by 2020. The strategy which provoked this move could boost the share price throughout 2016. The extension news could build a foundation under the boosted levels. The security of a 2016-2021 revenue stream which includes full tax incentives changes market perception completely. Brings predictability and stability to this stock. If this plays out this way...one might not even categorize Plug as speculative.

  • [Reference his tweets on Dec.19 and then Dec.29.]

My opinion is we might hear some good news involving this year's guidance on March 10th. 2015 Goals, Second shift, Rebranding, Improved Margins, 30 mil credit facility, Expansion, Growth.....Andy has commented in prior calls Plugs growth could be more accurately and better reflected on the balance sheet. After reading a SA article by Matt and remembering those tweets last Dec. I think there might be some correlation between the tax credit leasing tweets (Dec19) and the 2016 focus of accelerating growth (Dec29). Throw the 2nd shift and "rebranding on schedule" tweet in the mix and there is all kinds of gasoline to pour on the fire!
