So where is cobra...I got a kick out of this lecture...he was caught in a whopper lie...kinda makes this post funny...;)
I don't think you really understand how these things work in our great legal system. Tort reform so badly needed. I could tell you some stories. When I was at GM in the 90s...they averaged 80 lawsuits a day. As an engineer...I personally had input into at least 2 cases. They were laughable. A drunk guy backs his Suburban into his country club claiming it just went into reverse all by itself. A not so funny case when a full van flipped on the highway, same claim. It is impossible to get reverse without moving the PRNDL into reverse...on this particular box it was mechanically connected directly to the hydraulics. I won't get into the details, but both were proven to be BS. I remember a group meeting we attended were a GM lawyer was explaining to us how tort law works. He also explained to us how GM deals with lawsuits. Here is an example of why tort law is so bad. A car sits at a red light with mom and her kids in her GM product. A drunk plows into her rear end at 70 MPH and the target car explodes. In a trial, the drunk man is found to be 99% at fault and GM is found to be 1% at fault. Forget for a moment that the GM target vehicle meets or exceeds all the safety regs...immaterial...it exploded cuz it was hit by a 70 mph truck. He jury finds for the plaintiffs for 100M. The guy who is 99% is broke...guess who the law says is stuck with 100% of the fine? Yup GM. It's a great system.
Of course Webbie...it's not about gloom and doom, it's about embracing renewables now. The talk about oil lasting forever is what kills me. I want our people, our government, to be proactive on this, not reactionary.
Fantastic display of a sense of civic duty and responsibility. A wonderful act of selflessness. I mean hey, you got yours right? The hell with the kids
My goodness Webbie...really? I know you can divide...right?
1,600,000,000,000/90,000,000 = 17,777 days = 48.7 years....help me out here Webbie...how is that fear mongering? It's math
Not only is your number wrong, it is irrelevant. I, like 80% of Americans, drive less than 20 miles to work. Therefore, most of us would not be burning oil...kinda the point huh
Seriously are you that stupid? It's a very simple math problem if you want to be crude....take BPs number of 1.6T and divide it by today's rate of consumption, 90mbd...it's roughly like 50 years....I personally use 3.3T (double BPs numbers) and a rate of consumption of 120 mbd cuz in 8 years that will be the demand...it's like 75 years. The answer is probably in between.
The take away...we need to start on new technology now. Everyone...go buy a volt
Peak discovery occurred in the 60s...the easy to get to stuff is being exhausted. Even if they find more reserves, the price to extract is going up tremendously as it takes more energy to recovery the crude.
Anyone read this article?
A. I'm not whining
B what do you know about what I drive? Regardless, it's my next purchase when I'm done with my newer vehicles
C. ..."The people buying a car that barely satisfies their driving requirements are not spending $28K on a car."....why do you discredit yourself with such obviously false statements? Of course it meets driving requirements, it's no different from the driving experience than using an ice...it runs on gas for crying out loud. Are you just being mental?
D...ironic you mention 28K...that just happens to be BELOW the price paid in American on average for a vehicle.
Bunky Bunky Bunky.....feeble my friend...
Ya and the slope for cost of batteries is dropping rapidly. Adding more batteries for longer range hurts that argument. In 5 years the icost will be inline. You have to start somewhere else this will never happen. Technology takes time
63% of the entire volt fleet operates in electric mode, 80% of Americans drive less than 40 miles per day...so why do you need longer range batteries? The vehicle is less than 30K...about average (28K)...not really getting your point
Lmao...uh...engineer....salary now owner, hardly a union position ...served in US ARMY far from being a communist...you are an idiot
