You have perfectly described a sales pipeline. Every company has a sales pipeline and the definition of "sales pipeline" is commonly understood.
Mikey's "pipeline of opportunity" is not the same as a "sales pipeline" otherwise he would just use the commonly understood phrase. Mikey's "pipeline of opportunity" is a phrase he make up which includes not only sales in the pipeline but additional business being targeted for the next year. As such, it is nearly impossible to determine which of these future opportunities will materialize let alone put any realistic estimate of there value. Mikey's estimates are just wild guesses at best, inflated to impress potential investors.
