By watching the movements on Level 2 the last month and doing some DD on each of these I was able to figure out which of these companies represent retail and which are institutions. I was also able to figure out who the biggest manipulators are, and what exactly their motivation is. Here is a brief breakdown of the players followed by what I believe to be the most important piece to take from all of this...

I have been trying to post the rest of my article, however, it keeps getting deleted every time I post...strange?

  • ONCS
I am a long time reader of this message board and this will be my first post to the board as I feel it is warranted with the events that have taken place in the last month.

The reason I am posting is because this seemingly terrible “price slide” that we have been experiencing throughout the last week is simply due to retail investors (a majority of ONCS shareholders) panicking and the market makers (MMs) slowly taking advantage of those with weak hands.

How am I so sure? By closely watching the bid/ask quotes and MMID’s on Level 2 in the last month I have a theory that I am fairly certain is occurring that I would like to share with you.

To fully understand my argument, one must first understand what a MM is and their specific roles in the marketplace.

In short, Level 2 market data is also known as the order book. When orders are placed, they are placed through many different market makers and other market participants. Level 2 will show you a ranked list of the best bid and ask prices from each of these participants, giving you detailed insight into the price action, including the market depth. Knowing exactly who has an interest in a stock can be extremely useful.

Market Makers are the players who provide liquidity in the marketplace. This means that they are required to buy when nobody else is buying and sell when nobody else is selling. They make the market. In other words, the Market Maker buys and sells the stock to brokerage firms.

Each market maker has a specific MMID that is a 4 digit code and can be seen beside their ask or bid on Level 2. The IDs that appear daily on the ONCS Level 2 are NITE, (Knight Equity Markets LLP) ETRF (ETrade) CSTI (Canacord Genuity) CDEL (Citadel Securities) ARCA, (Archipelago LLC) CANT (Cantor Fitzgerald) MAXM (Maxim Group LLC) CDEL (Citadel Securities) PUMA (Puma Capital) and ATDF (Automated Trading Desk Financial).
