I was once involved in a company buyout. Strangely enough, just as you are saying, it was eerily similar to what we are experiencing with MBLX. As much as two years out, it was business as usual, though business as you would think would develop, did not. A plan was already in place, new developments strangely hovered. The buyout did not happen overnight, but over a two year period. Maybe with the lack of new share purchases and business inactivity, you are right. Something is going on????
Short interest reported this evening after the close.
I agree with everything you've said. I'd hope the shorts would run out of inventory, but we've been waiting on that well to run dry for two years now.
If you're just beginning to invest, that's great news. I'd say, if management ever delivers, you're getting this at give away prices. And too, you're getting all the pain and grief (which is a serious bottom indicator) the rest of us have experienced for free!!
Shorts have a few million shares they need to cover. They are simply holding the price down waiting on one of the institutions to buckle under and dump a couple million shares. The longer they keep the price down (without a managerial response) the greater the pressure on the institutions and possibility of the institutions giving up.
How is the bid getting stronger if we are selling at the all time historic low price (lowest price EVER) of $.75.
The only bid prices are offers to cover phanthom non-existing short shares. Tell me, how is this constructive for the company?
Management, the timing of your actions / inactions is hurting those who have trusted you. Faithful long term institutions and individual shareholders who have been with this company for years are now being forced to sell (below $1) into the ever decreasing bid prices of the shorts. Every single day, all day long, this stock gets constantly pounded and then at the close walked down to new all time lows.
Have us wake up to a new week on a Monday morning and see news on the screen that over the weekend management has made a decision. Just market one of the patents. One, just one, please. Certainly over the past 20+ years, since 1992, you have created something inside this company that can be marketed to someone somewhere to produce some kind of revenue somewhere.
Is your silence and inactivity telling us that you have nothing to show for all the time and money that has been invested in you? Do you not have any Humiliation / Pride at all?
Agreed, Casinomarket. Timing is everything. I would still purchase this company as an investment and wish I had at today's price of .78 cents vs the $7.00 I did purchase the stock. We are all the victims of an extreme and vicious short play. It is very sad. We allowed Eno's perception to lead us ahead of reality. Now all we have is a management and board we struggle to understand / trust and the prayer of a miracle.
I agree with you about the quiet nature of the news and the lack of insider buying. I had hoped for more insider buying as we approached $1, but if you look back, you will remember that Eno only purchased 20,000 shares a year ago at $1.07. Most would say that he lacked confidence in his own company / ability. I think it's more of an economic issue. I get the impression he's quite a member of the middle class. Investing in common stock may be something abnormal in his upbringing.
We probably won't hear any buyout news until after some large mutual fund dumps a couple million shares (Monday morning?) , the shorts have covered and there is more clarity for the acquirer on the liability in the derivative suit.
Of course, by them, we will all be homeless.
We are still waiting to hear the derivative suit decision. In a derivative suit, any proceeds of a successful action are awarded to the corporation and not to the individual shareholders that initiate the action.
The Board of Directors and management deserve to be sued.
There are so many so done with these so called brilliant, over educated want-a-be businessmen. A polite term to describe them is "losers". A better term is "Creeps". They are a disgrace to all of those who work for a living!!!!!!!!!
If they don't think this company is for sale or have it for sale they are "Idiots".
Well, there certainly isn't any rush.
Hell, we really don't have to get off our #$%$, do anything or make any decisions until the stock price is below $.25. That's when we have to worry.
The secret is, if we never make any decisions we can't be criticized for doing anything wrong.
Shorts continuing to walk the stock price down again (as every day now for 2+ years) today.
Derivative suits permit a shareholder to bring an action in the name of the corporation against parties allegedly causing harm to the corporation. If the directors, officers, or employees of the corporation are not willing to file an action, a shareholder may first petition them to proceed. If such petition fails, the shareholder may take it upon himself to bring an action on behalf of the corporation. Any proceeds of a successful action are awarded to the corporation and not to the individual shareholders that initiate the action.
NORMEY....google "Goodwin Litigators Win Dismissal of Class Action for Metabolix"
I agree, the market did not pick up on the anouncement - the class action lawsuit was decided without predijuice in favor of MBLX.....meaning there is no appeal and that the existing cash value is not at risk. Meaning....we should be training at cash plus in value. Interesting that management has played the past month so calmly, suggesting there may be something (?????)....."chemical" (with today's European anouncement ). (NORMEY....what do you think?) SometiHing finally coming From chemicals??
SOME GOOD NEWS FINALLY CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is now 5:55pm CET, about an hour after the beginning of Olli's 'Significant Findings" speech in Switzerland today.
The stock price is up 4/100's of a penny with 200 bid and 11,000 offered.
Why do they make these game changing announcements if it's not significant to anyone.
Same old BS.
We said these same words when the stock was $2, $3, $4, $5, .....$10.
I don't think management is listening.
I'd like to agree with you, Normey, but a company that has been in operation for over 20 years now and selling for $.82 a share near cash value has to stop courting the dance floor like some special queen virgin, find a partner and either show their stuff or leave the dance hall.
This #$%$ teasing has gone on for so long, everyone thinks she's full of shi...and no one wants to get near the #$%$.
What in the world does all that Spanish gibberish say? Can anyone tell what it means?
We're trying to interpret the future of this company, communicating in a language we can't even understand.
On a positive note, the volume today is only slightly above 100,000. My interpretation is that for every share the shorts continue to daily short, they pick up half as many shares from scared hands. With a little good news (anything ENO and BOARD - I have been a shareholder for years now and I am still waiting for the first morsel of good news. Not one single thing good has happen / announced for YEARS!!!!) the stock price will soar.
If I were on this board, I'd be embarrassed of my performance
