Thank you D-H-R for explaining the tax reporting requirement to me. This has always been one of the mist diffucult stocks to enter its information into Turbo Tax. Now I know I must use the royalty info. Etc. from the tax booklet not the NSB distributions. Our brokerage has problems as well each year getting the the 1099 entries correct. They have to usually send amended copies---usually after the tax deadline, but they eventually get it right. I just override some of their entries using the tax booklet.

  • The 2015 Tax Booklet shows that MSB received royalty distributions for all 4 quarters, yet they only paid distributions of .64 on 2-20-15 and .05 on 8-20-15. Does anyone know if we must use the Tax Booklet figures or the actual distributions in completing our Form 4797, Sale of Mineral Property, in our tax return?

Thank you "chessman_85060" for your reply! The annoucement which you provided did answer my question. Also, I checked out the original propspectus for this preferred on "Quantum Online" yesterday and read that it will be called on May 1, 2016, which would be the paydate for its last dividend, if it is declared. I read that there will be a mandatory conversion at that time to between 2.2 - 2.7 shares of Intellsat's common stock. However I just today received notification of a mini-tender offer from the company, but with no details, except that it will close on about April 24th I seem to recall. Perhaps they will offer a higher conversion, in place of the expected dividend. Any further information you have would be appreciated.
