  • Wonder if just me, maybe the crew found a way.... ;-)

  • Before the shooting. Have to run now, can't research it. I remember looking mid morning morning and seeing almost a day's worth of average volume at that point and the pps was steadily climbing. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Where is the first place to see the results, and is there anyway to see Nordic NAS in real time? many thanks.

Is "Nokia's breadth and depth of its technology across multiple standards" a differentiator versus key competitors?

Someone brought up the other day the order of earnings that NOK is this time before ERIC and ALU. Isn't that better this time -- because NOK's business has diversified just like you said, and it's better not to have earnings flavored by more homogeneous companies that are affected, for instance, more heavily by US landline declines?

I agree that given where NOK is right now, guidance will be critical. The Street will first respond to the numbers -- earnings and guidance -- but (assuming at least a meet top and bottom line), it will be the guidance numbers and quality, in terms of illuminating the opportunities for each Division, that will take the day. I don't know if the earnings consensus now is .08 or .09. I think it's .09.

I think .14 would make for much more than a $1 move up.

Did something last Wednesday I don't normally do. Bought some more Nokia on margin.

I think maybe we just saw a market flush. Short term, at least. This has to happen before start moving back up.

That morning, a flush it was. What happened in the treasury market was historic, we were right at 10% correction, equities didn't follow right away but the writing was on the wall.

Just wonder it if will stick, and if Europe prints big time to make it stick, what impact that will have on the Euro and thus, the US ADR's.

I also wonder about the expectations for NOK's Q3 gains, and hope they're not ahead of reality. Some have lamented about Nokia's lower marketing visibility vs, let's say, ERIC. But that's a double edged sword. NOK's communication conservatism may have done them well now, in that earnings expectations haven't been all the more inflated.

  • jpmarketer jpmarketer Oct 21, 2014 1:28 AM Flag

Reuters surveyed 19 analysts for today's article, "Nokia's network margin seen falling in Q3 from Q2 20 Oct, 2014. Consensus was that the sector has suffered recently because of downgraded expectations for US volume, but that NOkia was relatively unaffected because of the US being a small piece of Nokia's Network mix. That's good news.

Throw in Europe's being in the doldrums (I'll bet Helsinki is down big time, as a market), plus the steep drop in the Euro past two days -- and you have the recipe for NOK underperforming - and the US ADR's relatively underperforming the European shares -- and creating the blah effect you're feeling.

  • jpmarketer jpmarketer Oct 21, 2014 1:09 AM Flag

    Blimps, I read it.

It says that Network margins are expected to drop sequentially from Q2 to Q3 from 11.0% to 9.9%.

On its face, one could be disappointed, and project that this could put downward pressure on the stock price. But check this out --

Last quarter's article was written on July 21. It comes up right there when you search on the title you provided for this quarter's article written on October 20.. In the earlier article, the text is exactly the same, but with different numbers for the earlier quarter. It says that margins are expected to drop sequentially from Q1 to Q2 from 9.3% to 7.7%.

First of all, they're higher now.

Secondly, what happened to the share price between July 21 and today? It went from approximately $7.40 to $7.90 (with the high at 8.73, I believe) --

    ANATOMY OF A CHATBOARD MANIPULATOR - fr3nchmodel

    Badge of honor, this one.

He's wasn't a troll. Instead, a despicable, intelligent, sad, yet despicable person who lost quite a bit of his long term investments in CREE and some in ENOC after pumping, purporting to have inside information, attempting to influence sentiment just like you. He too, was drenched in flop sweat at the end, exposed as a merciless merchandiser-- but not a troll. He's real, an ex-broker now in the Naples, Florida area -- maybe not too far from you?

My legacy, sir, is not created, lost or changed on this chatboard. Yours, however, is, because this is apparently the center of your world. Your impotent, 24/7 trolling between Friday night and Sunday night exposed a lot of things -- each of them a separate and distinct Achilles heel, that over time, will degrade your credibility, your online persona and eventually, your will to continue.

What a terrible existence for you, always needing to stay on top, the next one-liner, the quest for dominance. Does this make you a sleazy guy? Some would say so. Me, I have compassion.

But you DID break your troll's golden rule when you allowed me to get in your head via your man cave, and to see your unique anger problem, Fr3nchie. This problem has defined you. You can no more outrun your inner rage than you can hide your fear and loneliness. All are palpable in your writings, despite your efforts to mask them in troll bravado.

Not even Silly Sally would be your friend.

I'm sorry, Fr3nchdoober. To be perfectly candid, you couldn't even be a ball boy in Troll Stadium.

    Best To You Though,
    -Jmarketer

    Go Nokia

Thanks. I know. Always best not to feed them. Been around Yahoo for years, got this quite a bit, but they fade because while one alias (like mine) doesn't allow the shenanigans, it rings true over time, whereas the trolls are seen for what they are. I correspond here for entertainment and education, not to influence sentiment like the troll. So it can attack - zero impact.

This particular clown, fr3nchmodel, is drenched in flop sweat. Its incompetence at trolling is very funny. Did you catch this clown's activity over the weekend? something like 28 posts going 24/7, all troll posts, multi-alias, the whole bit. This dolt doesn't even care that people understand he's a troll.
In one of the posts -- did you see? He actually called himself "CEO Fr3nchies Army Inc. LLC." So he's telling you, his army of fake aliases is ready to do battle, to keep all productive discussion about Nokia scuttled.

Then, unabashedly, he recycles the Fr3nch alias every few days, so that Yahoo can't boot him for TOS violation. Twice now in 4 days, and the next one can't be far away:

So there you have it. You know who the fake aliases are. Just look at the how they're used for attack/validation, the recycling of posts, the scuttling of discussion - and then look at the formal definition for internet troll and see if your Fr3nchtroll's MO matches this --

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]

So yeah, you can talk to this c-mdump, but was your hands afterward

  • 1. Wipes out aliases regularly to not allow posting history that clearly demonstrates the tactics

How could one possibly believe ANYTHING an alias says, when this is the practice, over months/years -- every few days? Why won't the poster answer the simple question, why do this?

fr3shyodel, why are you so obsessed with my asking this question?

I am not referencing you at any time other than responding to your attacks -- just go back and look. It is you, sir, who are very tense about someone asking you a simple question. I am a live and let live type of person.

Why erase the posts? You won't answer, you can't, but try anyway.

WHY DO YOU ERASE YOUR POSTS EVERY FEW DAYS?
