it is always easier to justify holding onto a losing position when your overall portfolio/ account is doing well. When things are heading south, as they are now, it is a lot more difficult, especially when you have investors to answer to. If things get much worse for ps, achman could very likely come under pressure to unwind bad positions, such as hlf. Also, bear in mind, the potential losses in a short such as hlf are quantifiable. Short hlf is certainly not a position I would like to be in personally. I could not stomach not knowing what the upper limit of what the losses could be. Just a humble observation
if you can hold, there is no doubt that apple will see 130 and soon. You will see 150 within 12 months. You are right though, margin is a poisonous killer. Margin is what has destroyed the middle class 'investors' in china as well. Apple will keep going up, no doubt. Can you borrow the money anywhere and own your position outright?
