If the board supported the offer, it would be bearish, as they would be telling the bondholders we are not worth 14 and change per share, take the ten.
If the board opposed the offer, it would be bearish, it would hint to them not wanting Ichan involved so there would likely be hurdles for Carl to jump before getting power in the company.
Neutral is the most bullish of the three, so much one can read into that statement.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
No matter what his plan to how this all plays out, I believe Ichan has shareholders interest at heart. He is to rich and too advanced in age to simply be in this all for himself.
We will see, but I believe Longs will benefit.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Stay clear of any dimwit that chirps that he is right all the time. If it were so, you wouldn't be stinking up message boards because you would be too rich to care.
A quick Google search reveals that Chinese firms have been buying US solar startups for years now.
In the case of Ascent Solar, TFG has bought near 5 and a half million shares going back to last September. Victor is second in command at TFG, while the CEO of TFG sits on Ascents' board.
I believe a deal was likely reached before the pps moved down to 10 cents, and they are taking care of formalities now. As per Ascent's investor package last month, they see great value (that Wall St has not) in the 200 million in CAPEX/R&D that has gone into Ascents' products. The pps is tanking because Hudson is selling, not because value has decreased.
I do wonder, though, how much the recent Chinese stock market crash has effected things.
But again, this is only my opinion, I could be wrong entirely.
I think maybe you are not giving Victor the benifit of the doubt here. Have you read this man's resume? I don't think he is surprised at all at how this toxic debt is playing out. He and others on the board have extensive banking backgrounds.
Somewhere between .55 and .6 per share: That sucks for long term holders, and is great for anyone risking their cash to buy in at the current pps.
I think this deal is being finalized behind the scenes, there are some hoops to jump through with the Chinese and US governments, but it will be done.
It might explain why the company has been silent during this plunge of the share price. One buck or ten cents, they may not care at this point.
Just my opinion, I have no insider information.
Companies can restructure debt the same way individuals can. I am sure Ascent Management knew in advance the first few years after beginning the manufacturing stage that the financials would be weak.
My question to you is, if your statement is valid, where is the 20 million in cash that they say they had just last month in their Investor presentation? And why would they be hiring right now?
I get what you are pointing out but their seems to be something going on behind the scene for management to be so optimistic.
Why would a company heading for BK be hiring?
I will admit I am perplexed at why the company, while the pps has tanked to .10, hasn't bought back shares or sold the company already to Apple or Google. The investor presentation they released last month was very promising, seems like a no-brainer for a larger entity to want to own. Especially since 200 million in R&D is out of the way.
You just told me 4 days ago, on this board, that you had spoke with Adam at PR and he said the company will turn things around, they are restructuring their debt, and no reverse split anytime soon.
Are you a Long that has turned short and are now bashing? You were more optimistic just 4 days ago.
I have also found an article from Aug 13, 2015, that the construction of a plant in China has been cancelled.
At the current market cap, which is chump change to Apple or Google, one would think this conpany would be bought if the technology was the next thing? Thoughts?
I have noticed a steady decline in pps over the last 2 years with the exception of a couple pops. What are the reasons? Dilution? Declining sales?
I noticed a lawsuit last September, has there been a resolution?
I will follow up on all comments with DD, I appreciate any leads.
This appears to be a good place to get in as far as the pps goes, but the downtrend hasn't stopped on the chart, yet. Are there any catalysts expected?
