You 'Cherry picked' a time period. I just clicked on a year. PSEC seldom has performed better than KCAP. Especially the longer time period you involve. I'm back in KCAP at $8.39 so let's rewind the clock.
Hope they're not. I want to add some more, in the wife's IRA. Bought at $1.45 on 8-7-13. Just sorta stumbled across this stock by accident. .08 drop on 9-13 is cause for concern and the right time to put in a limit order under that amount. (Just in case.)
They have a website and it says they distribute nationally to high end suppliers. Probably never see them in Walmart since, if Walmart can't beat you down to a price, they won't carry the item.
You're going to love not having a mortgage! We haven't paid a dime in interest since 2008 on anything! Stumbled across this stock when I had a few $$ laying in an investment account (taxable kind), and bought as much as I had the $$ for at $1.45. Just pure blind luck but it appears to be a good long term stock. Plan on adding more before ex-div date.
You still irritating these 'investors'? Ran the numbers on PSEC vs. KCAP for the past 12 months. With 10K invested in each.
PSEC was $12.04 and you got 830 shares, collected 1070.70 in dividends and the current share price is 11.45. A net ROI of 5.81%. The stock value fell to $11.45 a share.
KCAP was $8.72 and you got 1146 shares, collected 1237.68 in dividends. Share price a year later is $8.72. a ROI of 12.38%. The stock value was negative.
I did better. I sold KCAP a few months back and just bought back in. Still see no reason to own PSEC.
I wish we HAD a 'Tax and Spend' government. Reagan started the 'Borrow and Spend' government when he tripled the National Debt. He raised the debt an annual average of 23.9%, GHW Bush raised it 13.9% annually, Clinton only 4.4% annually. GW Bush, who inherited a budget surplus stopped that baloney and raised the debt and average of 11.1% on an annual basis. For Obama to equal the Reagan record debt he would have to leave office with a 33 TRILLION dollar debt. Now if we include the 'Presidential Discretionary Spending' where GW Bush HID the costs of the wars he started, his record is as bad, if not worse than Obama's. You just keep supporting that 'Borrow and Spend' crapola till the interest on the debt sinks the USS America!
There has to be a reason that we are not privy to --- yet. Added 50% more today at $5.6879. Had a great July and, so far a really lousy August. Told the wife one week ago today that I had a hunch that selling everything and going back to cash, and just wait, might be the thing to do. Wish now I had. Too late.
Tempted to double up. But I'd like to know why the drop. Someone may have dumped a boatload of stock at once. But that makes no sense either. That usually occurs next month.
I prefer to think of it as investing for the return on investment. (ROI). And I am not a 'day trader' but do go in and out of stocks as the market dictates. Trading, not holding has allowed our net worth to climb much more dramatically than holding PSEC over the last 5 years would have. All PSEC has is a dividend. No growth, unless, of course, you buy and sell. Which it seems you are against.
