There must be a concerted effort

Sadly management has appeared to be "royal fools". I am tolerating just sitting back and collecting ever decreasing dividends because my basis after dividends remains well below current share price. However I wouldn't buy any more until I see an increase in the dividend and I don't expect that anytime this year and any increase in 2016 I expect to be rather modest. I certainly would love to be proved wrong. GLL

    hsterniac,
Way too optimistic. For every .25% raise in interest rates at least one billion people will drop dead immediately. When the rates hit 5% there will be nobody left alive on earth and you know that has got to hurt REITs. GLL

    dar,
How right you are. I just rechecked my arithmetic and I was way off. If I had used the closing share price it would have been even worse. Mea culpa. Now I am a lot less happy than 24 hours ago. c'est la vie. GLL

    Jan 2 17.88 - .80 (2 dividends) = basis of 17.08. It was trading at 18.13 at the time I wrote the post. 18.13-17.08 = 1.05. 1.05/17.08 = 6.14

We are up 14% if you include dividends since beginning of year. That's disregarding NSAM. Could be worse. GLL

We should get a dividend declaration mid June sometime. If the dividend remains the same we should see a small share price rise. earnings report will be crucial. Apparently most people don't think the current dividend can be maintained. I think it can but am nervous as should any sane person be when the share prices has plummeted. Remain calm but watchful. Yes, but don't expect much any time soon. All depends on the international oil market and LINN cannot control that. Great patience and some hope needed here. Things definitely look grim. GLL

Only a fool would not be worried when shares plummet and dividend is cut in half or more. However, I still believe LINN is well run and doing as best as can be expected under current oil price circumstances. Another dividend cut, however, and even a patient share holder like me will just take my big losses and bail. Things do look bleak but am hoping that today or tomorrow the usual monthly dividend will be announced and a small bump in share price will follow. GLL

APTS target: $13 per share by Dec 2015

The rising share price is of minimal benefit to me as I have no intention to sell. However it does give me some peace of mind in that if I need some cash I could sell and also it tells me that the broader market ( not that the market is always right or rational) has a lot of confidence in the stability and growth of the dividend. I do see steady rise in the dividend.GLL

Many here question the wisdom of running a pipeline through wetlands and parallel to a river — particularly one that supplies drinking water to more than 1.5 million people. In December, one of Kinder Morgan's pipelines spilled 370,000 gallons of gasoline in Belton.

The above is from a financial article. I have a lot of shares of KMI but that is very distressing to me. Oil is on the way out, not in the next decade perhaps, but inevitably as wind and solar and who knows what else slowly but surely get safer and cheaper. I just hope KMI can keep increasing dividends for another decade and then, to quote King Louis "Apres moi le deluge". GLL

I suspect you are being a bit overly optimistic. . The share price has been limping along and will continue unless the dividend is increased. The effect, as far as I can tell of inclusion in the RMZ has so far been virtually undetectable. No price or volume pop. Perhaps once actually included things will get livelier, I hope so. GLL

    ceo,
The share price is determined by market sentiment not the true underlying value of the company or the certainty of its dividend. However, and this is a BIG however, the market sentiment is often the result of a lot of different players seeing some underlying weakness that we longs do not see. My current reading of the earnings is that they have enough CAD or FCF or whatever you want to call it to maintain the current dividend for the next few quarters, and if they do the share price SHOULD rise. However, dividend yields this high are almost always an indication of higher than average risk. So, if your risk tolerance is low this is NOT the stock for you. I would certainly feel a lot more comfortable seeing the price back up to at least 25 but I fear that won't happen any time soon. GLL

Welcome to the club. I've made a lot of money flipping it but now it took a huge dump from a few weeks ago and I'm stuck with 4000 shares I raelly just wanted to flip. OTOH I'm making 10% while I wait so it could be worse. I think anything under 11 is a great buy. GLL

    Credit PAA

    by ca_cowboy_fan May 22, 2015 12:39 PM

I live in Santa Barbara and am not anti-oil. I have a lot of money invested in other oil companies and pipeline companies. However, as has been noted in the LA Times PAA has got a very poor record here and has been fined repeatedly. This spill could have been detected a lot sooner if they had sudden pressure loss monitoring equipment installed and working properly. Yes accidents happen, and yes PAA is now taking a responsible position but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Rest assured that there will be lawsuits and a request for compensation and it will be many millions. This happened at particularly bad time ( just before the start of the Memorial Day summer tourist season) and will cost the local economy which is very tourist based quite a bit. I am hoping that PAA takes the high road and that this spill turns out to be less catastrophic than many fear.

Is the dilution a good move for the future?

    by jcrimminsusa8 May 22, 2015 11:24 AM
    kenpalley2000 kenpalley2000 May 22, 2015 1:08 PM Flag

I disagree that dilution is never a good thing. If increasing the number of shares by 3% frees up enough money to invest and add 5% to CAD then it was a good thing. I do not know enough about current plans to decide how good or bad this move is but judging by managements past actions they seem to know what they are doing. If you don't feel the same way then why are you in this stock?
