Today is a buying opportunity. RSO has nothing to do with Brexit and tomorrow is ex div so buying today comes with a $.42 dividend. GLL

    bill.polk,
Some folks just don't bother to look at the most basic information. This only the third $.48 div and there will be four and then it will get bumped up a penny or two. Steady Freddy. Plus capital appreciation for those who might need or want to sell. GLL

The effect of Brexit on US apartment rents will be ZERO and yet we are dropping along with every other stock this morning. What further proof does one need of the frequent irrationality of the market. If I weren't at posiotn limit and a bit strapped for cash I would most def be a buyer now.

  • something like a 90% increase since February. I doubt the dividend will get increased any time soon which is too bad but at this point it is in the sustainable range and stability is extremely important. If by some miracle the divvie did get increased I think we'd be in the mid $30s in no time. My 2800 shares of WIN at $10 back in 2012 are finally out of the red after assorted dividends are factored in. GLL

$70 +. I think you need your dose adjusted. I'll go out on a limb... we will NEVER see $70/share unless they do a 10:1 reverse split. I agrees that the dividend, such as it is, is likely stable for the time being.

    CSAL GOT HIT

Although I would always prefer to see the share price go up in AH it really doesn't mean much as a few shares can move the dial a lot. The final parting of the ways between WIN and CSAL apparently has some folks freaked and thinking that all those shares being bought will be dilutive and cause the dividend to be cut. I doubt it but I suppose it is possible. I'm most certainly not selling any time soon as I think the dividend is secure. GLL

Well Kirby you madman looks like you might finally be correct. At any event I am glad I didn't bail at $10.50 as had been urged by some posters. $15, hmm, could be although IMHO it will take at least 1 or 2 more quarters with good earnings and no dividend cut. GLL

Often a dividend is "too high" because the market undervalues the company and the share price is too low. When I was a kid I got a lot of hand-me-downs and they were "too big". Actually I was too small and quickly grew into them. Same with CSAL. the dividend now seems pretty sustainable and the share price continues to climb. GLL

Finally share price has taken off this morning. Amazing how slow the market can be to recognize good value. I am NOT saying that RSO is a good value, not yet. But this latest dividend is most def a step in the right direction. IMHO it will take 2 more consecutive dividends of at least $.42 and two decent earnings reports to get us up to around $16 or $17 where the yield would be 10% or slightly lower. That is a yield that seems believable and sustainable to a broad swath of investors and at that point the shares could take off. So we have the rest of this year and the first quarter of next year to really see if the turnaround is real. Patience. GLL

It would have been pretty bad if they had cut the dividend. Pretty much what and when I had expected. I doubt this will move the needle very much but it can't hurt. GLL

Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of $0.42 per common share for the quarter ending June 30, 2016. The dividend will be paid on July 28, 2016 to holders of record on June 30, 2016.

Kirby, Appreciate your unrelenting positive views but keep in mind that if the dividend were cut in half and the share price fell by 50% it would still be a 13% yield. The share price and the dividend have been falling for years in tandem so we are barely keeping up with inflation if at all. I am hoping against hope that the announcement comes soon and there is no cut. GLL

If LaPlanche (sp?) manages to take this private at say $7 or $8 per share I suspect a lot of shareholders would vote yes and bail out.

Probably. However an increase in the dividend might help. PFE, GSK etc all are good dividend paying long term investments. GILD, however can only make you money if you sell it whenever it goes up and buy it when it goes down. That is a recipe for volatility.

Went too far too fast so folks are taking profits. Everything depends on next few days. I think we may get a declaration tomorrow or Friday of $.42, next week at the latest. I think that will stabilize things. I do not see significant upward price movement unless and until we see and actual increase in the dividend, and I do not expect that any time soon. Of course if the dividend is cut we go to $8 or less. GLL

    Warning--APTS is very risky

    by analyst112 May 7, 2016 12:33 PM
    kenpalley2000 kenpalley2000 Jun 12, 2016 8:03 PM Flag

Shares up almost 5% since this posting. PLUS another $.2025 dividend locked in as of close of business Friday. PLUS hit all time high share price as of close on Friday. One can get much higher yields elsewhere but not with the degree of safety and likely dividend increases that APTS offers. I will admit that at current price I am not buying anymore but I am certainly not selling either. GLL

Have you checked their website? Probably quite a bit of information there. I'm too busy to look but it would be a boon to this board if you checked it out and reported back. Thanks in advance.

  • Monday is ex div so must own shares by close of business today. Although the recent rapid rise in share price has resulted in a lowering of the yield I believe it reflects just how secure that yield is AND the apparent commitment of management to steadily increasing the dividend. I'd be a buyer but at 6000 shares I am now at position max. GLL
