  • At least briefly. If you are in it for the divvies, fret not, they are secure. If looking for cap gain be patient. If you are like me have plenty but want more and hoping for another 50 cent drop things are starting to get interesting.

Well, the CAD is fine but it is not quite the blowout quarter I had hoped for. CC will be fascinating and no doubt paint a much rosier picture of the future. GLL

    price difference brent to wti

    gumby,
Exactly right. I also believe that when the bitter cold hitting the East and Midwest fades the demand for gas and heating oil will drop and the over supply and lack of adequate storage will further decrease WTI prices and LNCO will yet see low 10s before rebounding with the increased demand later this year. At least that's my theory and hope. Once price goes below 11 I start to decide when and how much to buy. GLL

    brock,
You certainly have unquenchable optimism, and a tolerance for risk. I am a lot less optimistic, although I'm holding for now in hopes of seeing some value generated by the spinoff plus smaller but still tangible dividends. However I sure am not in a buying mood. OTOH, if one were to buy now is certainly the time. GLL

I agree with jj27713 in that today's drop is reflection of oil price drop. However, I also suspect that selling, or at any event preparing to sell 1/2 billion dollars in shares could be dilutional and not accretive unless the money is put to work effectively and soon. With the dividend having been cut drastically recently the specter of not having enough free cash flow to cover current distribution much less any possible future increases is enough to be a downward force on share price. I remain a buyer if the price drops below 11.

You did well. I remain hopeful that oil will slide further and another bite of the apple will present itself at $11 but it is by no means certain. At current prices the dividend is over 10% which ain't too shabby! GLL

Earnings as expected. Share price dropped early and is now rebounding considerably. I was hoping for a much bigger and more sustained drop and a better buying opportunity. Early buyers are already up significantly and share price is steadily climbing as investors and traders recognize that prices have stabilized and the dividend seems secure for 2015 at any event. My hopes of sub 11 buy seem a lot less likely at this point. Congrats to the longs. I still have 5000 shares and if it does go below 11 I will add more.

  • It appears that the all time high close was 22.66 and we are 30 cents away from that. It won't take much to get us over that level, but of course, as we all know management could do some sneaky greedy move at any point and put the kibosh on the whole thing. GLL

NAV is up about 3.5% in past 2 months. Of course what we all want and need is an increase in the dividend since NAV increase doesn't help unless we sell. GLL

As soon as the weather warms demand will drop. Will it result in a share price drop? I don't know but many serious analysts are predicting oil going back down. Just be aware and be prepared. I will admit I am hooping to see shares back under 11 so I can buy more for flip or hold but am not that confident it will happen. I still have about 5000 shares that are well under water. GLL

WIN is being sued for moving ahead with a meeting regarding the 1 for 6 split without having adequately noticed the public. Management says the suit is without merit and they will vigorously defend. True or not it will cause a negative reaction, I suspect soon.

    Item 8.01 Other Events.

On February 9, 2015, a purported stockholder of Windstream Holdings, Inc. ("Windstream") filed a putative class action lawsuit in the Delaware Court of Chancery, captioned Doppelt v. Windstream Holdings, Inc., et al., C.A. No. 10629-VCN. Plaintiff alleges that Windstream's Board of Directors (the "Board") breached their fiduciary duties by causing Windstream to issue a proxy statement that allegedly omitted material information in connection with a special meeting of stockholders scheduled to be held on February 20, 2015 to vote on certain amendments to Windstream Corporation's charter and to approve a 1 for 6 reverse stock split (the "Special Meeting"). Plaintiff seeks to enjoin the Special Meeting until additional public disclosures are made. Windstream and the Board believe the lawsuit is without merit and plan to vigorously defend against the claims made in the lawsuit. A hearing is scheduled for February 19, 2015. Information about the matters to be considered at the Special Meeting can be found in the definitive proxy statement dated January 9, 2015 that Windstream has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the "SEC") and mailed to stockholders. Such proxy statement includes information about Windstream's directors and executive officers and their ownership of Windstream's common stock who may be deemed to be participants in the solicitation of proxies from Windstream's stockholders with respect to the proposals for which stockholder approval is being sought. Investors are urged to read the definitive proxy statement (including any amendments and supplements) and any other relevant documents filed with the SEC because they contain important information about Windstream and the proposed transaction. The definitive proxy statement and other documents relating to the proposed transaction can be obtained free of charge from the SEC's website at www.sec.gov and Windstream's website at www.windstream.com. In addition, these documents can also be obtained free of charge from Windstream Holdings upon written request to the Corporate Secretary at 4001 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72212.

    Brent tops $60

I think $20 is ridiculously pessimistic but I do believe we will see a lot of price volatility in oil over the next 6 months. Don't be surprised to see Brent back to $50 before this is all over. I am hoping it does drop so that LNCO gets down to $11 or less so I can buy another 3-4000 shares. Long term LNCO at $20 in next 12-18 months seems like a pretty good bet. GLL
