It was nice to 9.05 if even briefly and it doesn't look like we will close above 9 today but we did hit a one year inter-day high and that is a good sign, especially considering 5 years of steady dividends without a single miss or decrease. GLL

I think we hit a 14 month high today. I can see 9 and more in the future, but as long as the dividend continues I won't take my profits. GLL

    Potential Takeover?

I'd vote yes at $10/share but I'd prefer they just keep paying the current dividend. Obviously that might not happen, and a dividend cut would hurt but if they cut it to $.20 and could maintain it I'd still be a long term holder. I must admit that I am not buying at the current level. GLL

    10 o'clock smackdown

Many factors at work lowering share price. Now that we've had a huge share price run up the dividend yield is down to around 6% which is not enticing enough to lure in a lot of new investors. Even a vastly inferior company like RSO is paying well over 10%. I think that makes a difference in luring in new investors even if it is not an entirely rational approach. Obviously for those of us long time holders with average costs well below current share price this is all totally jolly, I for one have seen my portfolio boom to heights I had never imagined possible in my long term planning but I suspect the buying pressure has eased considerably. Add in the general market weakness, serious short attacks and the fact that the price just may have gone up too far too fast and voila. I'm not worried or concerned in the slightest bit and I'd be a buyer if I wasn't all in and then some.

Up and down. At 13% div yield you can hardly expect it to go straight up. We've already passed this quarter's ex div date, pay date is end of April. Hold on, be patient, collect the divvies and be happy. GLL

    WTFGLO,
Be patient. We can see another 10-15% price gain this year and when CU goes back up so will the dividend. When the new mine opens ( eventually i hope) at Tio Maria ( or is it Tingo Maria I forget) a big boost in EPS and hopefully dividends will occur. The one big threat I see is the replacement of a lot of copper by fiber optics but some things just need a lot of copper and those are important things.GLL

I think my own experience gives a useful insight. I bought and sold 2000 shares a few years back for medium term flip, made several $K and then went it went back down from around 11 to 10 bought 2800 shares on 10/1/12. I thought I would either hold long term for the divvies or flip it again if went back up quickly. It never went back up and after that but after all this time including dividends I am close to even. Nothing to brag about for sure. However despite all the predictions of doom and gloom the dividend remains pretty secure in fact possibly more so than 12-18 months ago so I just keep collecting $2800/yr in a tax deferred account. I think as the reality of the security of the dividend slowly sinks in the share price will tend to rise. Until there is a dividend cut we will not see any huge drop and we will not see any huge surge. Slow but steady wins the race...pardon the pun. GLL

Where do doofus trolls like this come from? Do they think really think their idiotic comments with no data are heeded by anyone? I suspect not and they have some peculiar pathetic psychological impairment that gives them to the need to make these inane posts. Hit the iggy button. GLL

  • $.25 every quarter like clockwork since December 2006. How many more years of this will it take to silence these idiots who keep saying "Timberrrrr" and other inane comments. Rather comical and sad really. The ignore button is wonderful. With WIN going ex div yesterday yet another $.25 is locked in.GLL

Good luck with that trade, Dar. Certainly surprising to see today's drop, so much for the 16 floor. I'm in it for the divvies and the long haul so today is just a minor annoyance.

Thanks for the tip. Just got back from my Tuesday morning bike ride for pancakes and checked my stocks and saw your OT tip and managed to grab a quick 1000 at 26.92. Looks good for a flip or a hold.

    Sandra,
Well, to state the obvious, you haven't lost anything until you sell, just like you haven't made anything until you sell. None of your dividends from the past have been taken away from you and your future dividends are pretty secure. Is there some risk, as Cramer and now other analysts state, hell yeah, that's why it has such a high yield. Will we see a dividend increase? I seriously doubt it. A dividend cut? maybe but not by much. In short as a long term dividend play this is an excellent choice. If you are looking for a short term capital gain play better sell quick before it goes down further. If I weren't fully invested in this sector ( I also have 1000 shares of KMP) I would definitely be a buyer at these prices. GLL
