  • I found the closing paragraph of this article by Arie Gore (Mar. 27, 2015 10:49 AM ET) a very good argument for why MU is still an excellent stock and poised to do very well going forward:

    "Summary
In my opinion, Micron will benefit from stronger demand for flash memory and solid-state drives since the new 3D NAND technology offers lower cost and higher storage flash memory. Micron has compelling valuation measures and high earnings growth prospects; its valuation metrics are among the best in all S&P 500 technology companies. It is hard to find a large cap company with such low ratios: EV/EBITDA at 5.25, PEG ratio at 0.60, price-to-free-cash-flow ratio at 10.64 and P/E ratio at 8.60. In my view, Micron stock is extremely undervalued, and now is an excellent opportunity to buy the stock at a very cheap price."

(Note: notice my new 'Strong Buy' rec)

With a "two year outlook" you couldn't go wrong buying before or after the ER... Think you'll get it cheaper afterwards though....

  • Just read this in the Mar 24th SA article, "More Woes For Intel: Chip, Chip, Chipping Away At Chipzilla":

    "Russ Fischer

"3D NAND at 20nm is no sure thing for 2015 - or beyond.
The Intel/Micron (NASDAQ:MU) joint venture to produce 3D NAND at 20nm is"

That's nonsense, but you keep going, I need this down some more before Ioad the truck again. Skylake and Win 10 solve all the problems. Then the 3xnm 3D NAND will provide the growth.
busy shorting Micron for earnings right now.

This is pretty bold coming from Russ Fischer. I wonder if he's serious or just threw the "busy shorting Micron for earnings right now" to prove a point?

This does concern me about my VG stock: "deteriorating net income and disappointing return on equity."

Yes, the sp is wonderful now and the 56% Qtrly Earnings Growth truly is extraordinary! But this article/quote's point about "deteriorating net income and disappointing return on equity" is true too - certainly nothing to write home about!

Here's what Yahoo Finance is reporting:
    Return on Equity (ttm): 5.71%
Net Income Avl to Common (ttm): 20.27M
    Qtrly Earnings Growth (yoy): 56.20%

  • I should think this stat would be updated at least quarterly by it hasn't. Anybody know when it last changed? Yahoo's update cycle?

Good post although I hate to see your, "get down to $22 / $23 / $24 area"... I have a feeling it might drop below my $25 CB but I will hold into the 'seond half/back half' of this year to recoup +$35 to +$38.

I think he actually said and meant, stay away from the speculative stocks. He also said speculative stocks dove this same time last year, implying - stay away from speculative stocks.

I think Cramer's dead wrong saying VG is under the category of speculative. What is speculative about earnings growth every Qtr for the last several Qtr? I think Cramer just doesn't know VG and/or doesn't follow this space...

because the rest of the sector is all down and VG was up more than the rest of the sector yesterday - fear and profit taking combined.

  • kg2931 kg2931 Mar 25, 2015 3:58 PM Flag

Good advice except my question was relevant to why is VG Down more than the rest in it's class? A more specific and legitimate question today.

Also, my position in VG is very Long - it's not a trader, but because it's just now in executable territory acting like a trader so the "short term volatility" does matter to me.
