thx everybody today for all your answers. I'm understand Groupon much better now. Guess I should have asked before I bought shares, huh, ha! I think I'll be alright at $10.48. kg
Note: the (866)582-6878 number is just to call in first to set up the teleconference. This is done by an outside contract firm in Arizona by the name of "CourtCall". The receptionist there said they are on PST time, NOT EST time. So, for those of you getting this message today you have several business hours left today to call & set this up. CourtCall probably is open beyond 5PM, but I didn't ask.
Up until 10 minutes prior to the court hearing which starts at 9:30 AM (EST) 'Objectors' (that's you) can call the following number to attend the Hearing by Telephone/teleconference line: Dial (866)582-6878
$30 will be charged and you will be sent an email containing a Court Call ID Number, the phone number to dial in on and instructions.
I recommend not waiting until the last minute to set this up.
Case No: 13-12680 "Savient Pharmaceuticals Inc.
9:30 AM to 10:30AM EST 12/13/2013 - Judge Mary Walrath
Note: So, do not rely on me being there to support the Savient Stock holders interests. I may or may not be in attendance/on the call. Haven't committed yet.
Well, it's not exactly bouncing yet but we have an hour to go. I can't see anything really holding MU down, not even the overall market stalling today after yesterday's drop. MU's only got continued positives going forward and should be seeing more SP movement today. Something's holding it range bound.
No, I'm not into Twitter. Only traded it once so far. Think it's gotten too expensive for a new IPO. However, CNBC is saying today that it's the Social Apps that are doing well lately. That's a little momentum for TWTR and FB but I think they're both over priced now. two cents. kg
Thx. Good to know Microsoft's integrating it into their other applications. Starting to sound a little safer for my Yahoo investment now (25% reliance on BING). Thx, kg
Instead of fighting and arguing, for us non-users (old geezers - retirees like me) tell us why and how you use Groupon, whether it's on your desktop or mobile phone, we don't care, just tell why we should be using Groupon!
PS: I'm long 5k shrs of GRPN right now at $10.48.
Here's the first reply I rec'd on the MSFT msg bd:
"Bing is a white elephant -- that is, something received which turns out to be ruinously expensive to maintain. It costs Microsoft several billion of dollars yearly. Rumor has it Microsoft is trying to find a buyer for it, but clearly nobody is going to be interested. Your experience is typical: it never occurs to anyone to use Bing."
I had no idea BING even existed or what it was! I use Firefox and Yahoo pretty much exclusively, sometimes Google, that's it....
Thx! I really had no idea! I'm sure there's lots of die hard Microsoft users but I've always just followed the herd, using Firefox, Yahoo pretty much exclusively now.
Called and asked the court clerk and she confirmed that
1) "this matter is going forward" is in fact going to be heard at tomorrow'w Friday Court Hearing 9:30 AM - 10:30AM.
2) I am awaiting court approval now to obtain permission and instructions to be in attendance by teleconference and plan to attend.
3) as a recognized Party to this case no I will be getting any/all future correspondence/status from the Court itself by US Mail. This will include an acknowledgement and any status on my previously filed 12/9/13 Letter of Objection to Sale Acquisition.
Please note: Savient's defense counsel has since filed an AMENDED "NOTICE OF AGENDA OF MATTERS SCHEDULED FOR HEARING
ON DECEMBER 13, 2013".

OK, I googled it and see now that BING is a Microsoft seach engine web site. Wow, shows you how out of touch I am, ha! I use Yahoo for everything. Rarely use Google. But confess, I've never use BING. Didn't even know it was there, ha!
So, the question still remains, and maybe we have some YHOO investors here as well, but just how important is this BING to Microsoft going forward. Is it possible it could get shelved?

Yes, I see your point. This seems to be how everything works on Wall Street. Can't trust anything really. I mean the guy's got to have some angle or why is he writing, ha!
Once I quit using my IE 11.0, started using Mozilla Firefox 26.0, made sure my AV was good and up to date, all these problems you're describing went away and the machine is operating much faster now too!
The Groupon GRPN news articles are worried about that co's 25% reliance on Microsoft's BING. How likely is it that Microsoft does away with Bing or let's it fade out a slow death? ('m sitting on GRPN shares Long right now and know nothing about MSFT) kg2931
From the news releases last few days it appears the market is worried about GRPN's 25% reliance on Microsoft's BING. 1) How big a deal is this for GRPN? 2) How likely is Microsoft, as one analyst put it, "" to throw in the towel on Bing"?
I'm new to investing in YHOO. Bought 1500 shrs yesterday and holding at $39.75. I have just read the articles last two days re Yahoo's 25% reliance on MSFT BING. Can someone tell me 1) is this claim as scary as the analysts are making it out to be and 2) how likely is it that Microsoft decides " to throw in the towel on Bing"?
