Good post john. Ditto. The only downside is we need to hold clear into mid 2016 to see the 3D materialize into increased share price. I am Long and can wait but MU needs to step up this schedule and be more transparent about it when they do. Thx, Kg.
No, now that I think of it, it was someone else. Fair enough that it was a sell anytime in the last year but at the time I sold it was still going up and went beyond. But I made the decision on my own. MU was and continues to be a tough decision.
Just keep holding your powder dry until the global market problems calm down and we get past the upcoming INTC ER. At some point I'll be averaging back in. Might not be until next year 2016, but I'll be averaging my $24.92 CB down.
I'm surprised the family and/or the retirement home admin allows someone in that condition access to a brokerage account id & pswrd... Should be monitored better than what you're describing...
I never denied I'm down and down big now. Just not that worried. Oh, and not "$34 to $18", since the 3Q ER just two weeks ago it's been 26 to 18. We'll soon bounce back to the 20's and then to 30's no later than 2Q 2016. LIke I said, I can wait that long. So, back off cheetah. Go play crusader someplace else. kg
Thanks for keeping me grounded oldstar! Needed that. Yes long struggle this year and from all indications it's going to continue at least up to 1Q 2016. Hopefully MU's using this time to work off the Convertibles and buying back stock. Good luck to you Star. kg
You're timing's probably about right. But I think MU will only go up slightly on the Win10 cycle. I believe the MU ER indicated not to expect too much from this, a help, a leveling off perhaps. The worm really turns on the 20N and 3D schedule which is still elusive at this point. Probably revenue numbers showing up starting 2Q 2016 with full production revenue by EofYr2016. I'm not whistling dixie or dreaming, MU's got a climb yet to get out of this but it will from all indications.
and you don't get it. MU will not be dependent on the PC industry much longer and the PC demise is overblown and premature. You think INTC won't get ahead of this? INTC and MU are in bed together. Like I said, enjoy your fun while it lasts. I'll wait this out thank you very much.
Oh, so you're saying SELL, SELL SELL! Take a huge loss now! Ha! I can wait until 2018 if I have to. Worst case: this will turn around by EofYr2016 at the longest. In the meantime I enjoy learning and watching the industry and I don't need the money and don't miss the opportunity cost.
Good to know. Thank you. Good points to consider. I think the semi industry that MU is in has changed, evolved into something different that what we might expect from history. There is some truth still to the oligopoly advantages MU has. MU is a leader in the semi space it dominates and known for quality. MU is slow producing it's 3D NAND but supposed to be a better product than Samsung's. Plenty of other disruptive things going for MU. One thing probably is true, it's still a cyclical business but this worm will turn and much faster than the historical paradigm.
Gee thanks for your concern matrix but I'm doing just fine holding my MU into next year. No reason to sell for what you call a 30% loss. I suppose if I was an active investor or daily trader I'd consider taking a huge loss for taxes or just to get back in the game and play. But I don't need to do that and have no reason to believe MU won't return me handsomely again in 2016. At the very least, I won't be taking ANY loss.
Simply old news and hog wash fed by the old narrative MU's still commodities industry dependent. Even if DRAM supply, price and costs stay where there at for a while, the article doesn't acknowledge MU's other advantages going forward (3D NAND, 20N, higher quality, oligopoly, etc). Motley will post anything to draw suckers in to subscribe to their service.

Yeah, you should try the "Kool Aid" and "Sunglasses" while MU and the rest of the market's getting hammered this Summer because by EofYr2015 and this time next year we'll be back to the 30's and beyond. Long time horizon man. Have fun shorting, spinning and flipping while it lasts...
