Thx dhak. Needed a little laugh this morning, ha! Ole Cramer does seem to let his emotions run his mouth. God bless him he tries hard.
The above news wire title was just released. As of the open most all of the 30 stocks on my reader were UP including the DOW, NAS, S&P500 & Russ indexes. But, now, only a little over an hour after the opener the the DOW, NAS, S&P500 & Russ are all down considerably and at lease 1/2 of my reader have turned down.
Welcome to Friday and the end of year selling. Those of us holding may just have to hold until the new year. I'd say don't expect any major moves in MU either way until then. My guess. kg
So, Cramer's point is Tech stocks are volatile and big owners sell first/ask questions later. He references Micron Vs McDonalds as one example of the contrast investing styles. And compared Sandisk to another snail stock. I wonder if Cramer is suggesting the tech run is over, or that the chip cycle has turned downwards? Any one else have that thought? Anyone know the answer?
Question: where in the cycle are chip stocks in right now?
His point is that he personally never liked Groupon as a stock but as an IPO loved it. Well, if you're looking for a reason why GRPN tanked this morning and find only Cramer's article as a catalyst, think again. Look at GRPN's chart. GRPN's been public for over two years now!
You caught that too. All of the following are up but MU's down/flat: ^dji, ^ixic, ^gspc, ^rut
Rather disgusting you ask me! Been waiting for something respectable north of 22.56 for over a week now! We got through Xmas, and the Hynix hype, now what?!?!?
I know your pain well. I've been around the block too but not on GRPN. GRPN's new to me and as an oldtimer I don't personally use GRPN (yet) - so haven't a good feel for it's stock either. It does seem that worldwide people are climbing on the web to shop for the best this, the best that so - maybe GRPN's got itself ahead of the curve and can survive here. DOn't know. Just a trader. kg
Thx! Short sellers coming back in now on top of normal EOFYr selling is what's got me worried. I just bought 5K shrs @ 12.03 this morning and it hasn't gotten near it since! kg
Thank you dhak, I'll have to review defn's of puts, calls, strikes, all this Options jazz at a later date when I have time. I'm not an Options trader and don't want to be. I'm just curious what "people are betting on a strike of $22.50 by 12/27/2013" will do to MU's stock price tomorrow, ha! I've got a headache now, later. kg
What does a 'strike call' mean again?
OK, I did that. Now what?
Call Options Expire at close Friday, December 27, 2013

So, again, in laymen not experienced trading options terms, how do you predict this will impact tomorrow's stock price? For example, mIght the SP move up near $22.50? kg
You've got it. Trade date, not the settlement date.
I still have a few large positions (Mu Funds) I'm needing to sell between now and then Dec 31 Tues. Will be interesting watching the stock price on these between now n then. Probably go down considerably starting Dec 30 Monday noonish. So, that only gives me one more day - tomorrow Fri to place my order & have it executed by end of Monday. (Mu Funds only trade once a day at end of close).
Thx skast, One thing you didn't mention - the Jan 7th 4Q 2013 Earnings Release. What do you think the SP is going to do going into that week and then starting about a week afterwards (Jan 13th on) when SP starts to stabilize (after all the selling/profit taking)?

Hi dhak, so for us laymen not experienced trading options, what dies "the Call option is $22.50 tomorrow" mean? How do you predict this will impact tomorrow's stock price? kg
My dad back in 1968 having done a ton of business as a project manager for a US company in Singapore - Viet Nam, used to tell me the Asians lying seemed to be an accepted way of doing business. I don't have any idea if that is true for our S Korean allies but wouldn't be surprised.... That was a long time ago so maybe they've grown up. I hope so...
I don't think Brokerage house analysts should be allowed to comment one way or another. Opinions are different than out right lies...
And anyone giving an Opinion, I don't care who they are (large institutional or small fry retail like you n me) should be required by law to state their position as part of the opinion. kg2931
