oldstar, I'v had pretty much the identical experience, same conclusion and also just recently retired. So, thx for confirming this same conclusion. I like a 'bird in the hand' which I've been getting pretty consistently but have had beaucoup nightmares long terming it... kg
My trading accts are also with Fidelity. Can you describe/explain a little more please? Is the directly linked Turbo Tax Fidelity is providing also keeping track of all your incoming Dividends, Cap Gain Distributions and the Dividend and Capital Gain reinvestments into more shares? Or do you have to do that manually? Does it produce a Capital Gains Report? If so, does it break it down by the new IRS form 8949 format (Reported, Not Reported, etc)? What does Fidelity charge for this service? Do you know, is there a way for me to import 10+ years of tax data into this Turbotax version from MS Money? Any other useful info appreciated very much.
As I wrote (below) I do all my taxes manually entering the data from Fideltiy's EOYr statements into my MIcrosoft Money98. Money is old, labor intensive and the SW is out of date but I've been using it for years but it keeps track of the above and it produces the EOFYr Cap Gns Report which is all I need if for.
xqueastor or render,
(Again I'm new to this) but what is the defn of "options pain price" and/or what does "options pain measurements" tell you? kg
I've never traded Options before but considering learning and trying. My instincts tell me it just adds more ways you can lose over just buying and holding the stock. If I understand correctly your, "7. Call and put option BUYERS lose their money 90% of the time" then this confirms my instincts to stay away from Options trading. Have I over simplified or misunderstood your point/meaning?
Thx for the advice/tip. I'm sure you're right but scary for me. I've never done Options. 124K may be more money but a lit simpler, less things to go wrong. At least, that's what my instincts are telling me... kg
I am so angry at Yahoo Msg Bds! Yesterday I replied back to this letter of yours with a full page. Afterwards I went back out and came back in and Yahoo had accepted it. Come back in today and it's gone! Go figure! Not the first time Yahoo has done this to me on the Savient msg bd!
I am assuming you are the same messenger using id 'Asl777' on the SVNTQ msg bd for "Investors HUB" and that you posted this same letter of yours there on 2/12/14. Because my reply got deleted here I've since answered you again on the Investors HUB bd. Please go there now to read my suggestion and email address for me to send you my "Common Savient Stock Holder Complaints". This should help you. Sorry for the delay. Hopefully I've caught you in time. Please let us know when you file your Objection. Defense counsel and/or the Court clerk should send notice of this to all of us on their list, just like all the other stuff we've been getting in the mail. Good luck.
Cool! I'm OK with the capital gains taxes too. Will just offset the $92K loss I'm taking on my 17 year position in SVNTQ (Savient Pharmaceuticals Bankruptcy).
Now, if only we could count on all of those 22 days as stable for trading...
Over the years I kept upgrading my Microsoft Money SW until they sunsetted it in 1998. So now I have all my investment/tax data in the last Yr1998 version. All my accounts at Fidelity, all my trades, personal notes on trades, annual Capital Gains Reports, etc. Still works fine but if the SW ever get's corrupted or I lose the disc I'll be sunk. Oh, I back it up but would still need the SW Pgm to open and use it. It doesn't do Wash Sales and pretty limited in terms of investment categories.
So, I would like to find another intel PC based SW that can directly import all the data & functionality. But buying Quicken or something that robust would just be over my head.
Any suggestions on a replacement appreciated. Something basic, easy for a non-accountant. Something that will import from Microsoft.
Note: I'm not needing the SW Pgm just to electronically prepare and file my tax returns. I'm just wanting something that I can manually enter the data from my Fidelity brokerage screens after trading that will keep track of it and produce a Capital Gains report at the end of the year. I'll continue doing all my other 1040 forms & schedules manually and file separately. Prefer it that way.
Good to know I wasn't the only sound thinker, ha! Yeah, so much for the CISCO & Klarman’s Baupost scare! I guess we got played...
Now, how do we trade this next Monday? I guess wait n watch to see if anymore CISCO & Klarman’s Baupos propaganda shakes out... kg
Has this idea crossed anyone else's mind? Do you all not throw up when you realize Crealta is walking off not only with our equity but has 'K' and the $200M+ NOLS (tax writeoffs through a RM)?!?!?!
from the recent 8K:
"Under the terms of the Proposed Plan, all shares of the Company’s common stock would be cancelled upon effectiveness of the Proposed Plan, and the Company’s shareholders would not receive or retain any distribution or other property on account of their shares. "

Come of MUster's, you can give more answers than this! Try answering the bulleted items in the Topic... kg
PS: I chickened out and sold at 25.05 for a dime. Went away from the screen for an hour. Would have been 35 cents had I been paying attention. a
Answers from experienced old MU / Chip investors appreciated. I'm thinking I need to sell and take a loss today before we close for the weekend. Since Wednesday I've been sitting at 24.95 looking for a dime to twenty cents and now this comes out! I thought I'd seen it all with the Hynix hype a few months ago but CISCO going back three years! Come on!
The news release on CISCO today appears to be valid as written. MU acknowledges some responsibility, also that it presents no financial problem for MU. But just what is the real magnitude of this problem?
- How many potential chips and effected customer devices could be out there?
- And how many manufacturers/device makers have noticed or claimed the same complaints? Is this just limited to CISCO?
- And how many other Chip producers like MU have also been cited for this same problem (Hynix, Samsung, etc)? Are we the only one that CISCO is accusing?
A few other Topics on this bd today indicate this Klarman's Baupost still holds a majority position in MU.
- Is this true? How do we know?
- Why did he sell now? Are we supposed to infer it's related to the CISCO news today? Both articles coming out together...

I'm losing $92,800 (equivalent to about 35% of my retirement 401K savings). Just looking at our list of over 300 claim filers, there's a couple indiv filers lost over a $million! Several other's in the hundreds of thousands! Some of us surely will be filing a Bankruptcy Court Objection to the Plan of Liquidation, or another Class Action after the Execs. As far as a Class Action, I'm hoping someone can pick up where I left off... kg
Seems like the SP has leveled off around the $8 range. Not bad! Opinions wanted. KG
What's the likelihood of RBY SP seeing $5.50 Shr and by when? Does this news improve those odds, make no difference or NA?

Ditto that! Why didn't they give us a schedule for obtaining the remaining financing? Would have been more meaningful than just the 12 - 14 months after.... What a joke! kg
