Can you help me out? I see a ridiculously cheap stock with insider buying and yet the stock goes no where. Calamos is a really good brand in convertibles and preferrers and appears to have tons of cash and a good book value. What am I missing?
Will John Calamos take this private just as it starts to do well again?
Valuing off standard and varied Real Estate holdings can be a very tricky business. Hard to get
real comfort around the valuation of the remaining land. Suffice to say, management and Fairholme are
savvy folks. I remain intrigued (and on the sidelines for now).
I like this stock a lot. They are adapting well to the internet and seem to have a real leadership in their
niche. Not a likely buyout so it will be interesting to see if they can really have a growth spurt.
I am tired of the religious conflicts on this board. When will they start producing
energy and revenues??
The market always knows more than me. The stock is cheap, yet continues to sell off. Is there a lot of insider stock hanging over them market? Bad news lurking someplace?
Agreed Smith is amazing. New IR firm is intriguing. Clearly something is up. You don't throw over your old firm after so many years if you do not want to improve your Street visibility.
I agree. Year end tax selling will result in 2x's cash flow. Then it will be a buy. I am nibbling at shares at this price.
The stock seems fairly cheap on fundamentals and clearly has huge upside. About a decade ago they had some terrific performance and were a very hot firm. What happened and will they come back? Or are they just too small?
Historically, they have been one of the more sensitive defense companies. The stock price is fairly cheap now and military flare up could impact price.
Good Question imho
I am a long term shareholder and have benefited significantly from the wide range of success. My position is getting past 5% of my portfolio and I wish I had better understanding of the various businesses. Trust or have confidence? The idea of trusting Mr. Smith is too complicated a philosophical and intellectual pursuit for me to master. Trust, but verify seems the appropriate and prudent approach.
What are resources or analysis or investors that could help me better understand this company. I am certainly willing to pay for research if appropriate.
That's cool. Was the deal sufficiently transparent to analyze the merit of the transaction?
I too am a small share holder. Download and read their annual report. Very clean and concise.
You'll get all the details on why this is a great business.
