  • "Walkley said the acquisition, which is expected to close in February, is "immediately accretive."

Sierra Wireless is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based maker of wireless communications gear. Its acquisition of Wireless Maingate, which says it has more than 500 customers and a subscriber base of more than 500,000, will let Sierra Wireless leverage Maingate's strong presence in Europe and strong position in security, energy and payments, the companies said.

Sierra Wireless CEO Jason Cohenour, in a statement Monday, said, "Maingate has a strong base of top-tier M2M customers and a proven technology platform that we believe will enable market expansion and accelerated services growth through our channels."

Analyst Walkley says Sierra Wireless is well-positioned to benefit from strong long-term industry growth trends in its industry-leading OEM solutions business.

"In addition, we anticipate ... the company could utilize its strong balance sheet to drive higher-margin sales growth through additional acquisitions," Walkley said."

    Executive Summary
Water utilities, governments, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are increasingly
exploring the application of “smart” metering, or advanced metering infrastructure (AMI),
to water systems. AMI can deliver important benefi
ts such as eliminating leaks and
    ineffi
ciencies, lowering operating costs, and improving water conservation. But water
metering also presents a unique set of challenges for AMI.
To succeed, utilities and OEMs must address a variety of cost and technical considerations
for power consumption, longevity, global scale and security. Cellular wireless wide-area
network (WWAN) technology can play an important role in addressing these concerns, and
provide distinct business and technical advantages over conventional radio communication
    networks.
This paper explores the development of smart water metering technology and the ways
that cellular technology can enable metering infrastructure. It addresses the key technical
considerations and best practices for successful AMI solutions for water systems. And it
discusses the ways that Sierra Wireless can help water utilities and OEMs make the leap to
tomorrow’s cellular smart water metering solutions. .........( Hugh growth potential for SWIR in the coming years.)

By Zacks: SWIR has been on the move lately as the stock has risen by 24.5% in the past four weeks, and it is currently trading well above its 20-Day SMA. This is a pretty solid move higher, but the question that has to be on investors’ minds right now is; can this trend continue?

While there can be no telling for sure, it is certainly encouraging that earnings estimates have risen in the past few weeks on the company, suggesting that sentiment on SWIR is moving in the right direction. In fact, the stock currently has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), suggesting that the recent run could certainly continue for this in-focus company.

If you are not joking that you need help, here are some reasons for your consideration. The management team is astute and reliable, fully focused on providing excellent service both to their clients and share holders. SWIR commands 34% of the M2M global market It has the most complete and cost effective modules for internet connectivity for numerous customers in telematics, health care, OEMs, meters. lights, etc. Experts believe that by the year 2020 the IOT connectivity market will reach 9 Trillion dollars. SWIR is well positioned to take advantage of this growth. If SWIR reaps a small slice of this "pie" it will significantly increase its share price! NVTL is no comparison to SWIR. It is a different league.

Last several days the market was quite unstable in its reaction to the slide in the world oil price. SWIR, probably, slumped in sympathy. Today, the Dow is up 103 points and Nasdaq is up 29. SWIR is up too. Note that SWIR is up AH 0.325 ,,,,, $39.15.

Experts believe that IOT market could be worth $19 Trillion , if not more, in the next several years. So, if SWIR reaps even a small slice of that pie , it would boost SWIR'S revenue significantly. Currently, SWIR commands 34% of global M2M market and is well positioned to take advantage of the potential growth of the IOT market. Serious investors might find it prudent to acquire a few shares of SWIR at this still modest share price. Nevertheless, the only sure thing is taxes and death. so please do your own DD.

FRANKFURT, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Investment in the fast-growing market for Internet-connected devices gathered pace this year and is set to attract more top U.S. technology and telecoms buyers of firms active in the market, a report from a merger advisory firm said on Thursday.

Corporate finance adviser Hampleton Partners' report said that $9.4 billion has been spent in the past three years to acquire so-called "Internet of Things" suppliers, with $5 billion, or more than half of the total, in the first nine months of 2014.

The report, which studied more than 100 transactions in the category, said that early consolidation has been led by Google but also included Cisco Systems, Samsung Electronics, Vodafone and Verizon.

Hampleton predicted that likely new acquirers in the coming year could include Intel, AT&T, Johnson Controls , Texas Instruments and Juniper Networks , which it said are under pressure to compete in the market. Other buyers to watch include Sierra Wireless and Telit Wireless Solutions.

Further fueling investment are venture capitalists that have pumped more than $1 billion into start-ups in the sector over the past year.

While average deal size has remained small at about $112 million, acquirers have paid rich Silicon Valley-level price premiums of 11.2 times revenue for publicly disclosed deals.

In May technology market research firm IDC estimated that 28 billion Internet-connected devices would be online by 2020, resulting in a global market worth more $7.1 trillion, against an estimated $1.9 trillion in 2013.

While technically as old as the Internet itself, the market has heated up in recent years as vendors look beyond computers, phones and other equipment that consumers and business users operate themselves to new types of automated machinery.

Such devices can include everything from hum-drum industrial sensor controls to critical auto safety features and personal heart-rate monitors.

The biggest deals to date were Google's $3.2 billion purchase of smart-thermostat maker Nest Labs in January and its roughly $1 billion 2013 deal to acquire Israeli location-mapping service Waze, topping the $612 million Verizon Communications paid to buy Hughes Telematics in 2012, Hampleton said

By Zack: "(SWIR) is a wireless equipment provider company that could be an interesting play for investors. That is because, not only does the stock have decent short-term momentum, but it is seeing solid activity on the earnings estimate revision front as well.

These positive earnings estimate revisions suggest that analysts are becoming more optimistic on SWIR’s earnings for the coming quarter and year. In fact, consensus estimates have moved sharply higher for both of these time frames over the past four weeks, suggesting that Sierra Wireless could be a solid choice for investors.

    Current Quarter Estimates for SWIR

In the past 30 days, 1 estimate moved up for Sierra Wireless but there was no downward revision. The consensus estimate trend has been pretty favourable, with estimates moving to a profit of 9 cents a share from a loss of 1 cent, a significant move.

    Current Year Estimates for SWIR

Meanwhile, Sierra Wireless’ current year figures are also looking quite promising, with 1 estimate moving higher in the past month, compared to no downward revisions. The consensus estimate trend has also seen a boost for this time frame, narrowing from loss of 44 cents a share 30 days ago to loss of 39 cents per share today, a significant move.

    Bottom Line

The stock has also started to move higher lately, adding 38% over the past four weeks, suggesting that investors are starting to take note of this impressive story. So investors may definitely want to consider this Zacks Rank #2 Sierra Wireless stock to profit in the near future."

Chambers of CISC that IOT will be the biggest technological development in this decade He says that the number of devices connected to IOT will exceed 50 billion devices by the year 2020. However, even if the ITO produces only a fraction of it, it still could lead to huge profits for investors who are betting on making money by investing in the ITO market potential.SWIR) is one of those behind-the-scene companies on the forefront of this development. Its wireless modules and cloud management services allow devices to connect to the Internet and be easily controlled. In plain English, Sierra is building the nervous system of the IoT, creating the infrastructure needed for all of these devices to talk to one another.
The company is in a great position to lead this revolution. Sierra’s technology is already found in thousands of Tesla Motors Inc. infotainment systems. It has also partnered with a number of top automakers including BMW, the Ford Motor Company, and Toyota Motor Corp. And the auto industry isn’t Sierra’s only customer. Its modules are also found in Nespresso coffee machines, wireless payment devices, government energy systems, and much more. Sierra’s reach will only continue to grow as the technology improves. The ITO is for real , it is not a "maybe".

Tesla's Model S is a perfect example of a connected car, in which Sierra provides the 3G-connection module that allows the car's infotainment system to tap into AT&T's wireless network. Tesla can then access data about the car's systems and make upgrades and adjustments based on feedback from the vehicle. Tesla is clearly a leader in automobile connectivity, but it's not the only company moving in this direction. Other car companies such as Ford, Toyota, BMW, PUGEOT and others use Sierra's technology as well.

I believe that Both GM and Audi will use SWIR M2M modems. See: "The world’s first LTE-connected car, courtesy of Audi (AUDVF), began rolling out of the factory and onto lots in Europe on Thursday. The Audi S3 Sportback now comes with an option for an embedded Sierra Wireless LTE module as part of its technology package, making it the first production car to come with fully integrated 4G connectivity." "Even though Audi won’t have its first U.S. 4G car until next year, it will likely beat all its rivals to market. General Motors (GM) plans to make AT&T (T) LTE standard in all cars starting in model year 2015. BMW ((BMW:GR) has developed an LTE hotspot accessory car owners can use to create miniature wireless LAN within the vehicle, but the automaker hasn’t started selling it yet." It just makes sense to use SWIR modems since SWIR has 34% of the M2M market and the best and the most simple internet connectivity, all in one device (Legato).

  • To get a better perspective of SWI's growth potential go to the page "SWIR After Hours Trading" and look at "News for SWIR" . There, you can read Motley Fool's article "SWIR rallied 43%...." . You will see that SWIR's potential for growth is for real. It is not some "pie in the sky" expectation that will not materialize. SWIR is well positioned to take advantage of the growth of IOT expansion. Today's slump in SWIR'S share price is but a "blip" in the process and nothing to worry about. Just remember, that in the fullness of time you will be handsomely rewarded. Nevertheless, please do your own DD!
