bulltard, after you had your rear end handed to you yesterday on your SLXP short, what in the world are you doing trying to short ITMN ? you must have a desire to inflict pain on yourself. oh, sorry - I forgot I am a sucker.
So far, have not heard SLXP come out and deny the rumours ... and if they don't today, we know by reading the tea leaves what is really going on in my humble opinion.
According to the WSJ, Allergan (AGN +3.8%) has approached Salix Pharmaceuticals (SLXP +14%) and at least one other company about a potential buyout in order to thwart Valeant Pharmaceuticals' (VRX +3.7%) pursuit of Allergan. The status of negotiations is unknown, but a deal could be announced as early as next month.
• Salix has a market cap of almost $10B. It has generated ~$1.3B in sales over the past 12 months.
• Salix itself is involved in a tax inversion deal with a unit of the Italian firm Cosmo Pharmaceuticals SpA.
• Allergan is highly motivated to move quickly. Sources say that Valeant is close to securing the support of 25% of AGN shareholders required to call a special meeting.
BTW - what drove me to sell 25% was the statement ' and at least one other company about a potential buyout' - because even though the volume is great, it sounds like AGN is not putting all their eggs in 1 basket.
I hear you and agree. I traded out and back in from 155 to 151 today with 25%. Then sold at 162.with 25%. can always buy back in if I see an opportunity but want to see how it plays out over the next couple of days to see if it is more than rumour.
Good Luck whatever you do !
suckers ? hmmmm, I guess I am. have been holding since 100, so you are playing for pennies while we play for dollars. must make me a sucker.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
but I am not just for boyouts, I was in ITMN early also SNTS which was taken out by SLXP. I try to buy fundamentally strong companies and if a bid comes along, that is great
I have seen INVE, a guy I like on the MB's is tommietomtom. he posted a lot on ANIK. I play the bios, Rob - that is my comfort zone because of the science. don't know anything about the market INVE plays other than it has security software I think
company is in 'play'. it has had strong buying over last several weeks, this is typically a sign of a planned move by a bidder.
depends on the price. 190-200 is a solid price, I will take it. it allows me to invest more in GILD and PCYC and CELG
Sentiment: Strong Buy
FYI - careful with that number, because if a retail investor does not hold physical possession of their shares they could be listed under the brokerage (and therefore be captured under institutional ownership). not saying your calculation is incorrect, just advising you that it does not necessarily mean what you are interpreting.
