    Tesla learned from the Japanese

They had to learn from somebody (non-GM, non-Michigan):
"The massive surge of Michigan tax credits and federal stimulus dollars that charged up the state’s nascent battery industry five years ago failed to generate the thousands of jobs that were promised. Any hope that battery jobs still are coming is complicated by the emergence of Silicon Valley electric-vehicle maker Tesla Motors, which recently announced plans to build a $5-billion battery plant in the Southwest in partnership with Panasonic. Following the collapse of battery-maker A123 Systems and the dissolution of partnerships involving Dow Chemical and Johnson Controls, Michigan’s goal of becoming the world leader in battery supply production appears unrealistic."

You should be posting on TM board for the Prius.

"they are revolutionizing the best selling vehicle in the U.S. which will save more gas in one year (and reduce more emissions) than all the cars Tesla has built to date."
PSSSST If Tesla was the FIRST to build the aluminum chassis. HORRIBLE ARGUMENT.
"I traded in a Prius to purchase a Ford plug in car. I purchased Ford over Toyota because the Ford car gets double the electric range than the plug in Prius and is a heck of a lot nicer of a car."
PSSSST. Based on your range and FREE charging, you should have bought a Tennessee-made LEAF. $0 is better than 160 MPG. WINK..

Nice straight shooting RDH...not to mention GM's outstanding taxpayer debt of $12B was invested in CHINA. Talk about a slap in the face.

You are a socialist by another name.
Speaking of taxes, GM does NOT pay taxes:
They NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The U.S. Treasury is giving up $14 billion in tax revenue because of a sweetheart deal it's giving General Motors.
The automaker is expected to post its first profitable year since 2004 when it reports fourth-quarter results on Thursday. But GM (GM) won't have to worry about being hit with a big tax bill because billions in previous losses will provide shelter for years to come.
That break will reduce GM's U.S. tax bill by an estimated $14 billion in the coming years, and its global taxes by close to $19 billion, according to a company filing.
