" Don't fight the tape... Or the Fed"...

You know, the Fed can only do what it can do. From what I read, a lot of the structural unemployment isn't due to lack of job opportunities, Il's simply that many of our structural unemployed are unable to fill the jobs available. Why are they incapble of handling jobs requiring computer skills and solid math. I assume we can blame the school systems in all our states or the commitment of many people to work hard enough to acquire these skills. Still, I don't believe this is a Fed problem and the Fed has done a tremendous job since the dark days of 2008 in bringing the financial side of our economy through some very trying times. GLTA

I agree. This makes no sense. How can you predict a stock is going up 180% over the next 12-18 months and still call it Neutral. This is a better expectation than any of the other stocks in the Goldman Focus List. GLTA

  • LINE has the authority to purchase its own units. Until the sale that closed yesterday, I don't believe either the banks or the company's lawyers would allow LINE to buy in the open marketplace. All that has changed now and certainly their own units are a better way to invest in quality oil and gas projects than going after some other asset that may or may not turn out to be a good deal. Your're focusing only on oil prices. Today we will find out if the sale went through and LINE can pay off its short term bridge loan. If not, watch out below. GLTA

You know, who really cares if a000 pumps or bashes on a Yahoo message board. Do you really thinks that makes any difference in the way any stock performs in the stock market. Several million shares traded today and the same number have traded daily. I seriously doubt any of the buyers and sellers of these shares care a hoot whether a000 is pumping or bashing on a Yahoo message board. Be real. GLTA

    Big up in pre-market

Well, Mr. Stockpickin, it didn't work that way today for ARCP. The pre-market and early trading made everyone think something good was going to happen. Nothing happened and the stock finished flat. It looked a lot like "tape painting" early in the morning trying to get buyers in. I didn't fall for it and just watched the stock retreat back to where it began. Made a lot more money on ARP and BBEP. They're both recovering with nice gains. I hope ARCP can do the same thing but today wasn't the day. GLTA

I'm assuming when we see the financial statements the distribution is paid out of borrowed money- not cash earnings from operations. GLTA

q - I don't understand your post. In late October you posted that you bought 1000 shares at $73+. You asked for advice as to what to do. Now you're complaining you can't get out without a loss. We all know AZN was over $75 this past week and you could easily have sold at a profit and moved on to a stock you like. My advice now is to sell at a profit and stop posting strong sell messages. I think you're right. There's something going on here beyond simply the declining price of world oil. I think it has to do with LINE being heavily indebted and the banks may be reconsidering the value of its energy assets as collateral. This could be a double whammy- having to liquidate assets to pay off bank loans in a very weak oil and gas asset market. GLTA

I've been buying even though it's been a tough period with the price of world oil. Still, I'm back in at an average price of $15.56 and with the dividend, will just sit tight for the moment and enjoy the income. The distribution may be cut but I don't think so. Even if it is cut a little bit, it will still be a nice income holding. GLTA

I'd like to see the actual UBS piece. It says LINE closed at $21.50 on Friday. I think whoever authored this email is mixing up LNCO and LINE. Cousin sisters for sure but not the same companies. One would think a UBS analyst would know the difference. GLTA

What you have to remember is that for every optimist that bought and now holds one of the options, there was a seller who either didn't share the same rosy outlook or looked at it as an additional dividend payment that sold them. I guess in January we'll know for sure whether the optimists or the pessimists were correct. GLTA

    OPEC is cutting on 27th

I'm not sure about RIG but I agree with you that Saudi Arabia will somehow send a signal that it's no longer on a warpath to lower world oil prices. This signal will be enough to stabilize and maybe even raise world oil prices. There won't be any agreement to cut production but simply monitor world prices between now and the next meeting. I'm sure the Saudi Princes are already aware of the the Kingdom's position in the upcoming OPEC meetings and have their oil trades already on the books. Long before Goldman Sachs. GLTA

You know, I had the same thought. I've read several of The Street stock commentaries and the format is always the same. The robot simply takes raw financial data, whether right or wrong, and then runs it through a program to come up with meaningless reports. They all give reasons for concern and then reasons for confidence. The robot determines the outcome. All of this is simply a method to catch "eyeballs" which translate into advertising dollars for Cramer's business. He personally could care less if the information is correct or incorrect. He simply wants you to click on The Street Report and ca-ching, more money in his pocket. It's sad but I think that's what all The Street stock reports are all about. GLTA

    Oil trading gone wacky

    by audiophul Nov 21, 2014 8:43 AM

Another scenario- From everything we all read, Saudi Arabia holds most of the cards here and all by itself can have a big impact on the world price of oil not only by what they do but also just by their announcements of intention. With that kind of control, not subject to oversight by the SEC, just think of the profits the Saudi Princes could be making trading oil futures and derivatives with inside info as to what Saudi Arabia's next move is going to be ahead of time. I may be a conspiracy theorist but I personally believe a lot of that is going on. And I don't mean to pick on just the Saudis, there are other players abroad with inside info that they can trade on with impunity. GLTA

Well, Citibank says fundamentals place the resistance at about $24. I'm sure there's resistance at $27 but LINE has a lot of climbing to do on fundamentals before I'm going to worry about fibo retracement resistance at $27. GLTA
