$400,000 in career earnings essentially wiped out. A career cleaning and fixing sewer pipes as a low wage worker over 30 years/Now with Mom in a double wide which will have to be traded down to a single in the near future. my health insurance rates just doubled over a recent hernia operation. These were sound investments at the time and look where it got me? NOthing.
My investing career. Before you ridicule, ALL these stocks were called sound investments at the time by the best of the best. Where the h did that get me? $400,000 in wages cleaning backed up sewer systems over 30 years all but wiped out. My retirement money gone. I'm now with mom in a double wide just south of Chicago. On top of that, my insurance rates just doubled after a hernia operation. Thanks. Just thanks. On top of that I've got a terrible case of IBS that has wiped me out mentally.
Yeah right Mr. Buffett "buy and hold on tight".

I bought AIB in the 50's...now it's .64 cents on the pink sheets
I bought HOV in the 40's...now 4+
I bought MGM in the 80's..sunk down to 1.00
I bought GM...bankrupt
I bought AIG in the 70's...about 1.60 with reverse split now
I bought LVS in the 100's, sold at 3 (it's the ONE I sold, now back up to 40's)
I bought AMD in the 13's...now 2+
At the time ALL were considered sound investments...I had a bank, homebuilder, leisure stocks, carmaker, insurance and technology. What the heck is going on? When was the last time someone bought a stock at 2 and held thru 60-80? Doesn't happen.
