  • Desalination is about the only way that California and the other western desert states can survive. The problem is that it is expensive because of high energy usage. The low cost of natural gas changes the economics, however. It is a ways off, but will add to long-term demand.

I'm stuck holding VNR as tax consequences of selling would make it hard to reinvest what's left having a decent return. The possibility of bankruptcy or cancelling distributions would be the only thing that would change this conclusion and I'm not really sure those events won't happen. Still, it is disconcerting knowing that the deep price drop in late July-early August had to be the result of insider info. As usual, your MLP partners are taking care of you (sic).

ENP deal was a disaster. They should talk about who all have been fired who were associated with it.

  • It seems that every time they add properties, it is called an accretive purchase yet they are now at a 0.9 coverage ratio with very little increase in distributions. It's almost like those selling properties to VNR are flim-flam artists and the VNR execs go into negotiations wearing bib overalls with considerable hay in their hair. How many accretive acquisitions will it take to get coverage at or above 1?
