The numerous lawsuits being filed against them isn't helping matters either.

The new CEO better right this ship or else it is going under quick. The stock dropped almost 9% yesterday.

    Where now for Avid?

Just as shocking as Avid's stock plummet is their company reviews on Glassdoor. Many are very unhappy with the direction of the company but as they say,..the beat goes on.

That was one review of Avid on Glassdoor. There are many reviews that don't paint a pretty picture of the company.

    Nightmare of many years!

Compare it to their competitor Adobe's stock. Their stock has been climbing in October.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

  • The CEO may have a high IQ, but that does not make him the leader of a rockstar company. Time for a change before Avid folds under his weight. Avid - the once industry-leading company - has tried to shrink itself healthy by getting rid of business units in industries they didn't want to invest in or simply didn't care to understand (M-Audio, Pinnacle, Softimage, etc.). Employee morale has been at a low since the One Avid brand initiatives a few years ago, key talent is leaving, there are absolutely no employee retention efforts, and giving everyone a 25th Anniversary jacket and celebrating executive failure is not going to stop this from turning into an unfortunate train-wreck. The board and investors are not stepping in - if this trend continues it's likely that the remaining flag-ship products will get sold off as well (Media Composer, Pro Tools, Sibelius) which will very likely save them from being completely killed off. Time to swap out the top to layers and start with a new page.

Unless this company can make significant strides toward cloud and mobile based technologies, I would recommend a strong sell. Apple has them beat.

Part of the problem is Avid is exerting all of its efforts in trying to appease the wish lists of its demanding enterprise customer base. Their diminished development teams are behind playing catch up instead of working on new and innovative products. All for desktop technology that is becoming outdated. For any "buying frenzy" to occur, they need to really make an impression with something new.

I don't understand that spike, especially for an overvalued stock on a company that is being dissolved.
