    SDT Looking Good Here

No, my current brokerage gives me 3% margin rates and I'm satisfied with their platform and service. The posted margin rate at this brokerage is 7.5% but I think if you have a decent account sized or do a fair amount of trading, most brokerages will give you much better than the posted rates. It's just a matter of asking and if you can either offer to transfer some assets from elsewhere or make them believe that you will go somewhere else if you don't get a better deal then they are very likely to accommodate you. The posted rates are only for those who don't ask for a lower rate. Yes, I believe IB is even lower, but I'm satisfied with my brokerage.

"Total commercial petroleum inventories decreased by 4.0 million barrels last week. "

Would have thought you'd have learned by now not to make silly predictions on things you have no idea about and then end up looking completely clueless.

Of course, the actual report was this

"Total commercial petroleum inventories decreased by 4.0 million barrels last week. "

but why let facts get in the way of a good fantasy?

  • lizahuang54321 lizahuang54321 Jan 23, 2014 1:06 PM Flag

9 weeks in a row of drawdowns in total petroleum investories, I believe.
The 9 weeks of draws started around the time you were predicting huge builds due to winter weather and the lack of traffic on the road in front of your house. LOL.

    Distribution

PAGP is a c-corp, not an MLP.
I haven't paid attention to whether the distributions are considered dividends or otherwise (it is not a K-1 since not an MLP). I believe this would be aq covered security under new IRS cost basis rules so in theory the broker should probably track it, however you should always keep your own records so you can verify if the broker reports it correctly (they often don't and you are the one responsible to file a correct tax return).

" If maintained at current levels, that may surprise some."

On the contrary, maintain at current levels is what the market expects.
No increase but no cut. A cut is certainly not priced in.
I expect no change in the distribution.

Don't see what difference that makes.
The IPO underwriters get paid no matter how the company does subsequently.

I think by "good article", he means one in which the conclusion supports his current investment position. There wasn't any mention of whether this article is more believable than others which reached different conclusions.

    BIP in a Roth

"You get huge tax deferrals anyways"

True of most MLPs, however I understand (don't own so can't check myself) BIP doesn't generate any tax deferral (at least last year) and even worse, the allocated income (which is taxable in the year received) is higher than distributions, so this is a sort of negative deferral...you pay more tax now but may get some back when you sell. Maybe someone can check their 2013 BIP K-1 when available and see if that is true of 2013 also.

When the company announces the distribution look at the press release to get your answer.
Until the announcement you will look in vain.

How does the premise support the conclusion? BWP doesn't produce natural gas. They have rather little exposure to commodity prices.

Because your comments are rather ridiculous. There has been no suggestion of the distribution being cut other than by 1 or 2 people on this message board. I really don't think BWP management should be paying attention to what is said here let alone commenting on it. I have been as critical as anyone of BWP here over the last year or two but you are imagining scenarios in your mind and then saying management should address or comment on what you have imagined. I doubt they are reading your posts so perhaps if it is important to you, you could dial into their conference call and see if there is opportunity to ask a question during Q&A.

over the last 52 weeks it's down from $27 to $25.
A drop of less than 10% yet people here crying that there should be a response from management.
In my opinion what was unjustified was the rise from $26 to $32 last year, not the subsequent retracement.
The rise was apparently in response to various initiatives/projects by BWP that would result in improved cash flow. What was apparently not taken into account by investors at the time but seemingly subsequently realized was that those were long term initiatives and not expected to make any change to cash flow in the short term (1-2 years).
I didn't see anyone clamoring for a response from management to the unexplained climb from $26 to $32 last year, so not sure why we should expect one relating to the subsequent retracement back to $25.

Subordination threshold for this quarter is 0.69.
Last quarter threshold was 0.71 and they only had enough dcf to pay 0.667.
Assuming similar pattern, distribution more likely around 65c.
Unlikely there will ever be distributions of 70c again - the only one that high was the second one the trust paid and was well above the subordination level. That when the wells were all new and decline wasn't yet a big factor.

Very, very unlikely to ever happen. Don't forget this is a declining trust and the majority of the wells have already been drilled.

One thing you can make of that is that the Canadian dollar is trading at about 89c to the USD. You weren't aware that TSX and OTCBB are priced in different currencies?
