Your grandson was one and speaking in complete sentences. That's fantastic! It would be interesting to know how he is with quantitative data. 5 balls versus 3 balls, etc. Also, color identification of objects - red or blue or green, etc.
"T" pays a nice dividend of 5.72% ($1.92) right now and it's supposedly quite safe. It gets good marks from Standard & Poor's (4 stars with a target of 39) and Credit Suisse (rated outperform with a target of 40). 52-week range of 30.97 to 36.45. Now is at $33.95.
J, the little guy has a new "game". He'll do something that he knows is wrong and then run away into another room actually laughing about it. Hurling pieces of an apple was his trick today. Neither of his two older brothers were like this little guy when they were his age. He is a real challenge.
I'm glad that I did refrain from buying more FSC or any other BDC. I looked at a list of BDC performance for today. So many of them took a hit. I guess I'll look at my Barron's tonight and see if anything looks inviting. Take care.
I came back home today from a mentally draining afternoon of babysitting a three-year old grandson for about four hours. He tested me like he has never done before, but I won the battle and did not break down under his relentless attack of hollering and crying. Anyways, I turned on the TV shortly after 4:00 pm and went to CNBC to see how the markets did today. The first thing I saw on the screen in large bold font was: STOCKS STAGE COMEBACK. Momentarily I felt elated with an expectation of a super session. Then I saw the results for today: S&P 500 was up 1.54, DOW up 52.12 and Nasdaq down 5.64. I then went to a computer and looked at some charts and other data. Yes, it was true that the indicators were down in the dumps and did stage a comeback of sorts. Never mind that the majority of stocks on the DJ-30 and Nasdaq were down today.
With the ex-dividend date of 1/13/16 approaching and the tax-loss selling obviously over, I did not expect FSC to pull back so much this week, even with these crummy markets. I believe that it was Phil who said a while back that he would not consider buying shares of FSC again, until it went below 6. It appears that 6 is getting here a lot faster than I expected. FSC went from a high of $6.52 on Wednesday to the low of $6.06 today. That's a differential of 7.05%. When does this stock become a bargain again?
Good afternoon, thewisejman. I've looked at one and two-year charts for KCAP. They are both pretty nasty. Even factoring back in the cumulative dividends, holding longer term has resulted in financial loss. At this point, is your strategy to unload you shares when there is a nice bounce? Thank you for any response.
I made a lot of money investing in RadioShack. It was quite a few years ago, but I sold a couple thousand shares of it in the low 50's. I had taken note how the stores in my area were usualIy quite crowded. When I owned the stock, I think the stock symbol was still "TAN" and not RSH.
Thank you thewisejman. I think that I will pass on this one, as there are too many variables in play for my tolerance level. Call me a chicken!
Good evening. Concerning MVC, I need some enlightenment. On 12/31/14 it was $9.83 per share. It closed today at $7.16. Dividends total $.71 for 2015. Based on that, $7.16 + .71 = $7.87 for present value plus dividends; $7.87 - $9.83 = -1.96 per share which equates to a 19.93% decline (-1.96/9.83) for 2015. As you pointed out, it's a small BDC and trades very lightly. I guess my question is: Isn't this a risky stock with which to tinker?
Volume was quite heavy today. I would think that FSC is getting hit with "tax loss selling". I guess I'll buy shares tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. The final few sessions have often proven historically to represent opportune times to acquire shares for a January bounce.
I googled in the name "Donkey Cartel". It shows some links to his music that is on YouTube. That guy was a true prodigy; a Mozart or a Beethoven in the making. What a terrible loss!
Trump now really worries me. I wish he had not said so many outlandish things about so many different groups. I now think that he'll probably be nominated. There's no way he can beat Hillary. If it's Trump vs. Mrs. Bill, I don't think I will vote. It's a nasty situation.
Wow! The Mountaineers really poured in on in the fourth quarter with 24 points.
