NRZ certainly looks interesting. Sure had a nice session today. I am going to study it this weekend. I think the volume with GARS is too low for me. (I owned a lot of O'Charley's stock a long time ago when it traded under CHUX. Traded real lightly and it got scary for a few sessions for me.) GILD has pulled back substantially from its summer high. It was a good stock to trade today on heavy volume. Long term it should do real well. It's P/E is only 10.3 right now. Standard & Poor's rates it as "5-star Strong Buy" with a target of $155. (It hasn't made Honest Hillary's "Strong Buy" list yet.) Oil and oil-related stocks are becoming more attractive. I'm still gonna wait longer. I think that you are hitting the nail on the head as far retail investors holding back due to anxiety.
tj, at this point I don't know what to think from one day to the next. I guess it's partially old age confusion.......ha, ha. If you look at three and six-month charts for the NASDAQ , S&P 5OO and DJ-30, none of them is very inspiring. Although, as Phil brought up recently, October is typically a good month. Take note how bad FSC is acting. It's looks like a roller coaster ride.
I would think that FDX would not entertain the idea of laying off at this time of the year. Very shortly there will be a need to hire temporary help for the holiday season. If memory serves me correctly, FDX did not hire enough seasonal help last year, resulting in less-than-satisfactory service in many areas. Perhaps that factor would result in a company reluctance to lay off for the balance of 2015.
According to AMTD, CHK issued another statement that they are reducing their workforce by 15%. That amounts to 740 out of 5,000 employees. 560 of the lay offs aren coming from their home office in Oklahoma.
I gotta look at some charts tonight and come up with another game plan for dollar cost averaging my purchases of additional shares of FSC. Perhaps I'll purchase at 15-cent declining intervals instead of 10 cents, due to some pretty substantial share price high-low ranges the last four sessions. If you are correct about October (charts support what you mentioned), I have to acquire more shares before the October advance. You and "thewisejman" are the two posters who I consider to be real sharp.
Thanks tj. I appreciate that. She is a German Shepherd about 7 years old. Been pretty healthy all her life, but has had three seizures in the last 5 days also with a red cell blood count that is too low and a platelet problem. They put her on three different drugs. She's all drugged up now and is sleeping at home. Hopefully she recovers.
How things have changed for this stock! It's at $6.78 right now in after hours. I remember owning CHK a few years back, when it was in the 40's and 50's. That was when less-than-ethical Aubrey McClendon was the CEO. Standard & Poor's rates the stock as a buy right now with a $10 target. Always honest Jim Cramer's outfit rates it a sell.
There was a really funny e-mail circulating a couple of years ago. It showed a picture of the shirtless muscular Putin riding a horse. Right next to that picture there was another picture of Obama riding a bicycle with his helmet on and his skinny girl-like arms steering the bike.
Hello Phil. I guess I'm reluctant to gobble up a lot of BDCs or any other stocks at this time for two reasons. I think the markets will pull back some more, dragging BDCs with them. More specifically, I keep wondering how much of a hit the BDCs will take when the Fed finally starts to raise rates. However, I did end up buying some FSC at $6.16 a little while ago. I got slaughtered on RAD and unloaded it @ 7.14 on 9/22/15.
My order for FSC was never filled yesterday. That $6.20 order expired in the aftermarket yesterday. Today the wife and I had a canine medical emergency and I never had placed an order for today. Anyways, I see that FSC is at $6.17 right now on average volume. I'm going to place another order to buy at $6.15 which it has already touched this morning (while I was at the animal hospital). At what price level would you consider buying PSEC, GAIN and MAIN? Thank you.
I'm going to hold off buying any FSC this afternoon, even though it seems tempting. I want to see what transpires between President Obama and Vladimir Putin today (which will probably be nothing of significance). If and when FSC gets down to that $6.20 figure, I intend to buy 1,500 shares initially and then add 1,500 shares for each $.10 it pulls back thereafter, up to a maximum of 6,000 shares.
Alan Greenspan used to intentionally speak as ambiguously as he could with a dictionary in his hand to later figure out for himself what he had just said. He was a true master in his own right at playing games and confusing people. Just ask Senator and ex-pitcher Jim Bunning. However, Jumpin' Janet has become a virtual superstar in her own right in a relatively short period of time. Chair Yellen will react to how the markets react and then re-react like nobody's business. Ben Bernanke looks better to me all the time.
I guess you mean AINV, as opposed to ANIV. The indicators (short, medium and long term) are all saying to steer clear of it. It was in the 7's back in July.
I learned how to spell it from Bob Dylan's song in the 60's. Remember "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35"?
There are no competent Democrats. Hillary Clinton is a Caucasian female version of Obama, but less skilled at lying. Bernie Sanders wants the Federal Government to redistribute wealth like there is no tomorrow. He's a dedicated socialist disguising himself as an independent who wants the Fed's nose in everything. Joe Biden doesn't havr teo brains to rub together and is prone to sat idiotic things.
On the other side of the aisle, we have Donald Trump who has managed to offend latinos and females. Not smart! I think Rubio has his head on straight and a relatively successful record. Still think that he's too young. Carly bombed out in two important jobs in the business sector (Lucent and HP). She is a smart lady though. Jeb's last name is his biggest enemy.
Phil, the last seven years with a modern day Karl Marx in the White House have been a disaster. I still complain to the wife, my Supreme Commander, about Romney not winning. Her response is a terse "Get over it!" It still blows my mind that Obama had a Rose Garden Ceremony with Bergdahl's parents. The guy abandoned his post and hooked up with the enemy That nuts!
