I think that is the gamble that management is taking. they believe they can get a partner on the interim data They originally were going to do the 12 week study, then the follow up completion till then end of 52 weeks. Then it changed and they added to it, did they add to it at someones request? FDA, outside consultant? Who knows.
While I agree, the only way to do that is force Jack out. He is CEO so he controls the yes man BOD, he is President and CFO so he makes the decisions and pays for it with no checks and balances at either level. Sometimes that works out when you get a super star, however with Jack, we have "very excited".
We have 5 drugs in Phase 2 that are built on the same technology and have nothing to do with weight loss. Weight loss was the low hanging fruit and they thought they would be able to fund the pipeline with it. Clearly they bet big on that premise and it might have worked with a partner like Pfizer or Merk, NOT EISAI !!
All R&D companies have poor revenue and usually burn dollars until their pipeline is completed and mature. Belviq is far from being mature at this point. And we are in the unique position of having put all of our short term future in the hands of Eisai, a small and getting smaller pharma marketing company that is watching their revenue drop across the board and can't keep their eye on the ball because they are not sure which ball will actually save them.
bad and mediocre CEO or at least hold them accountable. I agree, the system is broken and needs to be fixed.
Shorts have been covering, if they really felt that the company was worth less they would have held their shorts till the end. Shorts have been covering for the last year and institutions have been buying so they see potential. If not short interest would have stayed the same or gone up in a big way and institutions would be leaving in droves.
But you are correct some on here understand the game. Others do not.
Nice, what is that 2 clone boys now? Not sure you want to clone me, there are others with far more board cred these days.
this is how easy it is when you have no volume. You peg the Ask and buy all you can at the bid. Drop the bid and move the Ask down... This is how institutions buy into stocks.
Belviq on the market for over 2 years and it is performing better then anticipated in the real world. I would say that proves their technology.
They are trying to educate the doctors as was Eisai. The doctors are the problem, they still are skeptical of weight loss drugs across the board. All three drug companies have been struggling for the last 2 years... Only a small percentage are using it.
I am still waiting for that PR coming out Tuesday from like 2 months ago that was going to send us up up and away.....
Nope, just called to question him on what I posted above. In the past he was always willing to talk about stuff a little bit with me. I think they are getting hammered by investors in both Eisai and Arena, which I was. Today only hold Arena
Well it appears you were right on the last years move of this stock. Congratz to you. I hope you shorted a ton and made a bundle of money with your insight. I am not a trader and I look for long term investments that I feel will pay off. In the short term, I got my head handed to me on this stock. However, the science is good, the product works and has help many. It is not the fault of Belviq that Eisai sucks, and if you look at the record I have been upset with this decision.
I should have probably lightened by load sooner but again long term, I believe in the science and the need to help people stop gaining weight at the source. Helping them control the food before it goes into their mouths.
In the end we may have been a year or so early on this investment, but I guess I have to play the cards the best way I can...
