We have talked about this problem before, but clearly Arena management is not going to do this. So as investors we need to weigh the risks and benefits of holding this stock through the painful drug discovery and approval phases...It would only take one good partnership to offset a major portion of the cash burn going forward and if you combine that with an increase in Belviq sales we could lower that need to one more raise.
I see nothing that is scary in fact 149,000 scripts for the quarter is great when you consider 6 weeks of it is the holiday season...
did not drop a big bomb on us as everyone predicted.
Add in Phen and that number is 80%. 80% of those that try belviq or bel phen will lose more then 5% of their body weight. Great news if Eisai could ever figure out how to market this thing to the masses.
Why stay invested then. Your thesis is that Jack has to leave our insiders have to buy for the stock to go up. Neither is happening according to you, so sell your stock and leave, or go short and profit from your insight.
Complaining on a message board over and over does nothing. I doubt Jack even reads these boards, at least get his email and blow it up. So do something about it, get a shareholde proxy going. If Jack is such a problem for your investment thesis and you clearly cant or wont do anything about it, then your only choice is to sell and move on to greener pastures. We are stuck with him until a large shareholder activist joins our ranks. Heck get Icon or Ackman to invest here.
What lies are those, please enlighten us. I don't think you can point to a single lie from an arena long. I could post for days tho all of the lies from the bathers and shorts.
So you must not have looked at the before and after photos of two women who lost 100 and 120 pounds in 11 months on Belviq posted here just a couple days ago. They changed their lives and the health forever, and you want to spread lies and untrue statements about the drug. Well here is the truth, Belviq met the requirements to prove the drug worked and they approved the drug for sale. If it did not work and was not worth the benefit vs. the risk it would have been rejected.
About obesity as a disease and how doctors are now being told diet and exercise is not enough. Medication should be used in the battle of the bulge. Did not mention Belviq or any other drug, just that we have new weight loss drugs.
Where did you come up with 158 billion? Who is the stupid one. 8 times todays price is 4.75 x 8= 38 bucks a share times the total shares in the float is little over 9 billion dollar market cap. No where even close to 158 Billion. Stop the drugs Fred, it is warping your reality.
You are correct they profit from taking advantage of pricing discrepancies on different exchanges or using different investment vehicles. Buying a convertible bond that is not pricing in a price increase of the stock, so they buy the bond, short the stock and convert the bond and deliver the shares.
Don't think so, they stated they would file the NDA for Belviq XR mid year and Jack changed that to 3 quarter. They stated they are going to do the smoking trials with Belviq XR and again that has been pushed to 3Q so I don't think it will happen by April.
BUT I could be wrong.
Yes, the change in strategy is to go after the patients directly, so with that in mind why would we stop TV ads all together for a week and then start back up at slower airing rate per day then all last year. You would think with that new epiphany they would make a new commercial and increase TV space a lot more, especially since we are in the middle of weight loss season. This season only has 4 more months in it.

Call Arena and ask why and call Eisai IR and ask them why have they stopped advertising during the peek weight loss season? No excuse for this, they stated they lowered the sales staff because they were going after the patients not the doctors. So their entire "educating the doctors" has now proven to be less effective then going after the patients and having them ask their doctors. Problem is as I have posted, some doctors still know nothing about Belviq and refuse to script it even when asked, one in particular was willing to give out a gastric bypass referral before scripting Belviq out of shear ignorance.
I too was not excited about Eisai and when management sold Eisai the entire world for pennies on the dollar so they could dodge the questions and the responsibility I was very unhappy.
Give it a little more time, I think that if Ildong crushes them or catches up to them in total sales it is going to send a very big message to Arena and Eisai. I would not be surprised if Eisai was asked/forced to bring in marketing partners.. IF management is publicly talking about blow expectations and disappointment with performance vs. expectations, you can bet that conversation has taken place behind closed doors.
