At one point I bought some acreage for $500 an acre. The price went to $900 an acre. I did not sell so I made no profit. Then it went to $250 an acre. The grass still grew. The cows still ate grass and grew and were sold and replaced. I did not sell so I had no loss. I made money on the cows. (call that a dividend) I also fished the tanks and hunted sometimes. (just a fun bonus) Recently I sold the land for $1200 an acre. I made good money on the land after collecting that dividend all those years. Point is --- the land price had less to do with the value of the land than most would think. The odds are greatly against a bankruptcy so the stock price is just as irrelevant.
