The Tea Party (Cruz & Paul) will vote against the safety of all children from infectious-toxic-gases and chemicals. Assad must be stopped cold in his tracks. We are seeing "the two faces" of the GOP, which is having its own civil war.
Cruz and Paul (Tea-Party) are traitors; McCain and Boehner (traditional GOP) are true Americans. The GOP Civil War (Tea-Party Group) will allow Assad to kill innocents any place, any time with toxic-poison-gases. Somehow they hope this will destroy the President, and bring them to power. The traditional GOP knows that Assad must be stopped now. Some dumb liberals are now in bed with the Tea-Party (extreme left-right tragedy) The rational Centrist are our only hope.
It is still to be proved if telomeres have any commercial value, or are only an interesting, but non-curing, footnote in medical research. It is still a very long shot, that anything of value to stockholders will ever come from this feeble attempt. Poor Astrogen.
Obama realizes that the next strike by terrorists with toxic-chemical-gas could be in an unprotected USA city, and 10,000 could die as Islamists try to top 9-11, which anniversary is only a few days away.
The next sarin gas may be in a USA city, if Assad is not stopped. Look at Tokyo in 1995. Transportation is a favorite target. This Syrian encounter is pure self-defense.
Geron Corporation announced that John Scarlett, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, will present an overview of the company at 9:45 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, September 11, at the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Healthcare Conference in Boston.
Science is everything we understand, or have the potential to understand. God is everything that, as humans, we can never understand. That is why there are so many religions; an effort to make sense out of it all. Any religion that is compassionate, and does no harm to others (basically the Golden Rule) is OK with me.
Assad and Putin cannot be trusted. The "Sword of Damocles" hangs over Assad's head. I would leave it there. It is nerve racking looking down the barrel of a very large gun. Putin wants to F**# with Obama, but he does not want a "HOT WAR".
The new MSFT phone will tie everything together. 8.1 and Intel's new chips will be the vehicle that finally gets it right from the cloud to the smallest mobile device.
This appears to be a breakthrough in Hematologic Myeloid Malignancies. Gilead mentioned several times as a competitor and a company of interest. Potential pipeline appears huge.
The uncontrolled growth of cancer cells, and the controlled growth of hESC stem-cells is related, and Geron is interested in both sides of the picture. Telomeres is part of the picture, but Geron can only concentrate on one part at a time.
Scientists turn back time in living mice
•On Wednesday (9-11-13), a study published in the journal Nature, showed scientists were able to reprogram mature cells in mice, effectively "turning back the hands of time" (to use Bloomberg's expression), and forcing the cells to revert to a form of stem cell which can differentiate into other kinds of cells.
•Incredibly, the reprogrammed induced pluripotent stem cells ((iPS)) showed more potential — in terms of their ability to change into different cell types — than either embryonic stem cells or normal iPS cells.
•The idea is that scientists may one day be able to regenerate damaged tissue inside a patient's body. Previously, researchers had only demonstrated the ability to forcibly reprogram the cells in petri dishes.
This shows an important connection between hESC and Imetelstat that that was implied at the Stifel Conference by Geron. The uncontrolled growth of cancer cells, aging, telomeres and hESC controlled growth are all related. This is just the start of 21st century medicine that will find new answers to aging, organ repair, and cancer questions.
Intel advances after analyst raises rating on shares
Shares of Intel (INTC) are climbing after research firm Jefferies upgraded the stock to Buy from Hold. WHAT'S NEW: Intel is poised to gain market share in lower tier tablets and handsets, as it is beginning to develop chips that use less power, perform better, and are cheaper than those of its competitors, Jefferies analyst Mark Lipacis wrote in a note to investors. Consequently, the company should gain market share in tablets that cost less than $500, as well as in cell phones and PCs that can be converted into laptops, the analyst contended. Investors incorrectly assume that Intel's chips are inherently inferior to ARM Holdings' (ARMH) offerings, added the analyst. Another positive for Intel is the large amount of short interest in the stock, which is now at the highest level in Intel's history, according to Lipacis, who increased his price target on the shares to $30 from $27. TODAY'S PRICE ACTION: In early trading, Intel rose 64c, or 2.8%, to $23.25. OTHERS TO WATCH: ARM Holdings' chips currently power many cell phones and tablets.
