    Thought of the Day

Recent episodes include a #$%$ leader with an anti-Semitic agenda in Kansas, a pair of fright wing anti-government cop killers in Las Vegas, a courthouse gunman in Georgia who hated the government. The cases of homegrown extremism over the past few months serve as a blunt reminder that terrorism originating in the United States is a legitimate threat to our safety. Americans approve AG Holdrer's resurrection of a federal task force on domestic terrorism that had been dormant for more than a decade

Republican Party Bush’s decision to invade Iraq has cost the world more lives. The ISIS incursion has been enabled thanks to the power vacuum repub Bush’s invasion created, combined with the inability of the Bush regime to make any serious plans for post-occupation Iraq.

The Republican Party’s last two wannabees – Romney and McCain – would have had Americn soldiers still in Iraq, still dying as they did under Bush.

Obama got it right in 2002 when he railed against a “dumb war” in Iraq.

There was no need to invade Iraq. There was no connection to Al Qaeda. There were no weapons of mass destruction, and invading was never going to turn Iraq into a functioning western-style democracy. Those were the lies we were repeatedly sold by the failed republican Bush team.

Over 4,700 Americans died because of what these people did.

Must be the same pollster predicting big fall gains for the GOP.

    Cantor Loses?

Cantor's loss is part of an awful two years for the Virginia GOP:
    George Allen loses,
    Obama wins state twice,
    McDonnells indicted,
    Democratic sweep last year.

"This Friday, June 6, will mark the 70th Anniversary of D-Day — Operation Overlord. You cannot oversell what happened on D-Day, there is no way to overhype it. Operation Overlord was and is a unique, world-altering event — bigger and more complex than anything undertaken before or since. A truly staggering day that changed the course of history." - Forbes

What this country needs is a return to the values similar to the Progressive movement at the turn of the last century, which fueled the first progressive income tax and antitrust laws; the suffrage movement, which won women the vote; the labor movement, which helped animate the New Deal and fueled the great prosperity of the first three decades after World War II; the civil rights movement, which achieved the landmark Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts; and the environmental movement, which spawned the National Environmental Policy Act and other critical legislation.

Speaking of subsidies, government aid and tax favoritism you might be interested to know that Boeing got two-thirds of the loan guarantees the Ex-Im Bank executed for 2013. A staggering $8 billion worth of purchases has been guaranteed by me, you and every other taxpayer in the US. So if one of Boeing's customers decides he can no longer pay the bill for his aircraft, instead of Boeing having to take the loss, we as taxpayers are kind enough to eat that cost while Boeing takes the full amount on the defaulted loan.

  • Fairleigh Dickenson University poll confirms what numerous other polls have found: Fox viewers are the most uninformed viewers in the country.

  • The inequality deniers--and their armies of lobbyists, PR spinners, loyal legal beagles, think-tank talking-point creators, pontificating pundits, and s-lackey politicians--spend enormous amounts of effort, time, and money engaging in tactics to further increase and consolidate the wealth and power of the 1%. Their tactics include: obstructing, denying, diverting attention, engaging in ad hominem attacks, legally bribing, and propagandizing-misinforming-disinforming-lying.

But they have no strategy to improve the economic viability, health and well being of our 317+ million people (besides themselves), or bettering our childrens' education and opportunities, the environment, and our country's prospects for the future. Quite the reverse, actually.

These plutocrats and the soldiers in their self-serving armies should be prosecuted for their subversive anti American plan to create an old world aristocracy here. where they are the sole rulers and everyone else are the peon serfs/servants..
