hey bud -- if everything falls in line with conventional wisdom then there could be a big sell off.
But conventional wisdom usually isn't that valuable. If the Fed scales back on bond buying the economy will have picked up and corporate earnings will be headed up. If not then there will probably not be a taper until the economy will pick up.
"IBM is canceling Thanksgiving (US employees) and Xmas (WW employees) this year."
I wonder if Big Blue checked with the Turkey and Jesus for a prior approval?
let me guess, you or a loved one has had a negative relationship with IBM at some point?
" know how to read a balance sheet & income statement........those available on the same 'internet' you so easily dismiss........more importantly, I know how ibm operates....it's not a mystery."
You know how IBM operates and it's not a mystery?
It sure is a mystery because the quote above says nothing.
If you want to make money in the market you need to do your own DD.
It's looks moronic to repost inaccurate info and then do a "LOL".
I was trying to advise you that IBM's total debt has not gone uo 60% since 2009. You can't believe everything you read on the internet -- in Motley Fool or elsewhare.
Since 12/31/08 IBM 's debt went from $26.1b to $36.2b at 9/30/13 for an increase of 39%.
Since 2009 IBM's GAAP EPS went from $10.27 to $14.41 for an increase of 40%.
IBM's interest expense for 2009 was $673m and was down to $459m for 2012 for a reduction of 38%.
The ttm IBM dividend was $2.15 for 2009 and $3.30 thru 9/30/13 for an increase of 53%.
Thanks for the reply washsale.
This part of it stood out,"IBM pixie dust accounting?"
You will have to be more specific.
IBM lives in a fish bowl. They get sued. The SEC investigates every few years. I don't remember any big problems being found. Do you?
I'd still like to know how IBM can buy back its stock with such a big percentage of its cash flow when 2/3 of IBM's revenue is from outside the USA.
Any info on point out there?
Does it buy the stock on foreign exchanges? isn't unrepateriated cash Apple's buyback problem -- as in why they may borrow to do it?
