Back in the 50's or 60's these were the ones to buy, but now?? If you work with your hands, their present fabric or other products are almost laughable. The Safeway or other store brands work much better. They need to make some changes....

The left will never rest in peace. Northern N. Dakota was a sleepy little part of the state and now the $$$$ even flow as far as Mandan/Bismarck. Truck and car inventory has never been higher and housing inventory has never been lower....

A few years ago, i bet a customer/golfer/Tiger fan 25 bucks that he wouldn't win a Major in the next two years. i won the bet. The poor guy has lost his way in more things than golf....

  • 25 bucks + gaskets. Those are NICE numbers....

Two number 7's with coffee please....
A couple Saturdays ago, i took a load of garbage to the dumps in one of the trucks. It's not the typical beater, but a 77 Ford F250, two-tone green BEAUTY, 460/C6 with 78k original miles. After i unloaded, i stopped for gas at the nearest Arco station. Luckily, we have quite a few of these around and their gas is always cheaper than others. i filled both tanks and a stocky guy with a beard came over and asked for a ride. i took a minute to size him up and he didn't look like the typical axe murderer, so i told him to get in after i did, so he wouldn't scare the dogs. A few minutes down the highway, he had his arm around Daisey and they were pals. He was talking about his Dad, who came down with agent orange in Vietnam and died at a young age. i could tell he wasn't playing with a full deck. Tears came easy for him and then he starting talking about GOD and i asked him if he had eaten breakfast. He hadn't eaten, so we pulled into McDonald's for a couple number 7's and coffee. His speech was littered with "f" bombs, so i put my hand on his shoulder and told him that GOD doesn't want him to use that word and only LOSERS use that word. He still had a few tears in his eyes and nodded his head yes. i asked him a few questions about himself as we ate our breakfast and he said that he lived with his Mother and worked around the neighborhood for money. i had an idea to give him a little money, so i had a 20 in my shirt pocket and a couple 100 dollar bills in my jeans. Before he got out, i was reaching for the 20 but my hand had other plans and pulled out a 100 and gave it to him. He yelled out, "A HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL?? I CAN'T TAKE THAT" and the tears were really coming down now. i told him he had to take it and he thanked me and now the tears were shooting out of my eyeballs and on the way home, i thanked GOD for small favors....

Could it be that American Family attracts people with a higher IQ. Paying out more money on claims is not a positive thing for a company, in my humble opinion.....

  • mandan14shooter mandan14shooter Jun 3, 2015 5:55 PM Flag

i'd never give a cent to those companies that have all that fool advertising. i've had American Family Insurance for quite a few years and am totally satisfied with their prices and their service. They don't throw money at the wall and hope it sticks, like mr. biggs and so many more lunatic companies....

my buddy Dale came out to Seattle a few years after i did and also went to work at Boeing Plant 2. A few pay checks later, he took a bus or train down to Portland and came home with a Blue metallic 69 Chevelle SS. A 375 horse, 4-speed beauty, with black vinyl interior and a bench seat. He paid around 3200 bucks for it. What a BEAUTY it was and a VERY FAST ride. The 70 Chevelle might be l little more popular these days, but i'd take a 69....

Any way you look at it, it's absolutely NUTS and money down the drain. EXCESSIVE, STUPID ADVERTISING is not good for any business....

  • Geico, progressive, allstate and others that advertise to the point of insanity drives customers away. Their advertising isn't funny, but sickening to anyone with half a brain or more. You know these companies are throwing money out the window and you would think that mr. biggs would know that. i can't remember when i bought ANYTHING that is advertised on televsion or on the radio. i've had a garage door company for 20 years (over 9700 jobs) and brought in my Son in from Boeing as a partner 10 years ago. i got out of 3 phone books last year at a savings of 8400 bucks a year and business hasn't dropped at all. STOP THROWING MONEY AWAY ON THOSE STUPID COMMERCIALS....please....WAKE UP biggs....

rip has been showing his ugly face around town lately. People seem to migrate to those big ads, which is a no-no. There are way too many ugly stories to tell here, but rip showed up at a young Mothers home yesterday and gave her a bid of 800 bucks to change over a wayne-dalton garbage, garage spring set-up to a normal torsion spring setup. my Son and i do a lot of these changeovers and always carry the parts on the trucks. Parts??
    (1) torsion spring, (2) end bearing brkts, (1) center brkt & bearing, (2) 4'' drums, (1) 16'6'' torsion tube....my cost on all these parts....40 bucks....total labor time for one person to install....45 minutes.
we did the job for 200 bucks. The SWEET young Mother told rip to take a hike.

A couple weeks ago, we put in two Chamberlain/Liftmaster belt drive openers, with one-piece rails, in for a customer for for $319 bucks each plus tax. His fully insulated steel doors weren't that old and didn't need any parts. rip was there earlier in the day and spent 20 minutes in his truck adding up all the parts that the customer didn't need, with the two openers and gave him a bid of 2200 bucks.

There should be 99 bad reviews for rip & his company out of 100, but they give yelp $$$$ and have very few bad reviews.
The better business bureau (what a laugh) also likes rips company and their $$$$, so they get an "A plus rating".

  • That's not going to change, but our country needs COAL. Brother Brucie drove a white 57 Ford Convertible for 40 years before he died in 99. He also was the Yardmaster in Sheridan and coal trains were everywhere. He heated his house with coal. Vote the bums out of d.c. and let this country turn back to GOD and hard work. That's the ticket we all need....

Mr. M was sitting at the table, along with the other auto execs, asking for a bailout. So many people out there think that Ford didn't need any financial help at that time, which is hogwash. 24 Billion plus interest?? That's about as ugly as you can get....

i bought the Wife a 2000 Grand Cherokee for 5 grand a few years ago with 105k miles on it. It has the 4.7 V8, 2 & 4 wheel drive and now it has about 185k miles on it and still runs strong. It's outstanding in the snow, very dependable and it's probably the best rig i've ever owned. Buy one today and stay happy....
