Google's new campaign to distribute Glass is a precursor to its release. IMO Glass will have subscription service for users and will cut purchase price like model phone companies use. Glass will be huge; shorts are short-sighted.

    Taxi is a Short

They can complain all they want. The bicycle sharing program and Uber have been cutting into cab driver income for a while now. But driving a cab is the path to the "American Dream" for many immigrant families. They need to get a loan and banks are not an option. When cabs fail mechanically, cab companies can potentially get a loan with TAXI on perhaps more favorable terms than a bank. The short call is short-sighted. With tourist season moving into full swing, cabs will be busier than ever this summer in NYC. I would cover the short position fast as TAXI pulls out to its next move to $15 a share.

Is it really worth owning individual stocks any more? Small bearish traders move the price of a stock with small blocks. It's time that the market shift to the dollar-cost-average model of pricing shares so that small blocks do not set the price of a stock. NOTHING in the news dictates the precipitous fall in price... Where are the fundamentals for this short? From everything I've read, there's no reason for PTN to be at this level. The impending announcement of a European partner will move the stock up another forty to fifty pennies easily. So don't fall for the Joe Doe's of the world.... PTN is movin' on up!!

Trading at P/E of 11, issuing a dividend of 7%... What bank offers this level of value to the average investor? NONE! Taxi is a money-printing investment opportunity. Taxi is a LONG!!!

Related commentary--Those who short this stock are really buying small puts at discounted pricing to move the share price lower. The market is rigged and needs to be fixed so that small lots are no longer acceptable as market makers. The dollar cost average process will be here soon enough and will wipe out the naked shorts that loiter this stock's "trading pit."

The fundamentals have been on the up side for 2 months... The question is whether the EU will approve Brem and if so, will AZN or ABT pick up a cheap new pipeline...

Phil, what needs to happen is that Spana has to announce who his European fiancee is... Then he needs to tell us when PH III will start and end. That needs to happen and that's when the stock will leave the shorts still reading their counterfeit tea leaves.

Bo... I would say that my comment was all about the underlying fundamentals. The stuff I read supports a 'good story' for TAXI. Even if NYC (and others that follow suit) impose stricter congestion rules on downtown traffic, there's only one way to fill the gap for populations that despise public transportation. The cab driver will endure. TAXI is a LONG! Good luck to all longs!!!

    When the partnership get announced

    by momentum_play Apr 21, 2014 10:58 PM

PTN has a decent pipeline. The partnership could be far more than just a cooperative arrangement. The real question is whether the potential partner mentioned in the CC is actually looking at taking a position in the direction of the company. If the partner purchased 10% of the company's shares (at this level it's a steal) what sort of signal would that send to shorts like JoeDoe? My answer is that short positions would expedite their exit. PTN is a definitely a long speculative position.

I think you're call is wrong this time...Here's why: TAXI is one of the only places where a person with limited credit history or with highly extended credit can initiate a loan for medallions. The expansion of medallions and the impending squeeze of congestion hours leads to a classic demand-met-by-supply scenario for more taxis. Medallion should return to @ $15 on better earnings this quarter and expanded loan-initiations.

If there is a potential partner out there, could they be testing Brem in a way that closely follows a typical PH III trial, but in a private, non-governmental setting? Testing in other countries may not be as stringent as in US. If being tested privately, this may take the time we're seeing here (it's been quiet for a while). Comments appreciated.

If you believe Zacks then you're trading on momentum and not fundamentals. That's fine, but selling here is probably something that you ought to base off of additional research.

If management extended the timeline for the interested partner in March (announcing on the 31st) shouldn't we expect the extension to close within 30 days? In other words, shouldn't there be some sort of news this week on closing the deal?

Another reason for the delay? The potential purchase of AZN by PFE. If AZN is swallowed up by Pfizer, Paletin will be nothing more than an afterthought in the deal. This is what I'm betting on. Brem fits well into Pfizer's stables. The stock will blow through $2 easily. Cam, you can still change your bet at the window.

  • markitcorrect by markitcorrect Apr 28, 2014 12:04 PM Flag

Opinion...As AZN goes, so goes PTN. PFE is interested in both the current pipeline and the strategic partnership piplines. When the deal goes down for AZN, PFE will sneeze enough cash out of their left nostril to pick up PTN in the deal. We're headed much higher despite the complaints of the naysayers and shorts. Good luck all longs!

    1. Zack's is wrong
    2. New curbs on private vehicle traffic (congestion periods) in NYC will have a dramatic impact on taxi use
    3. Zack's is wrong
