" HQ property"
Agreed, but doubtful if JCP will announce the numbers if they do indeed sell their property.
One thing I'm encouraged about, rather than issue more debt, or do an IPO to raise cash they seem to be focused on increasing shareholder value, and lowering the short position.
If they pay down debt, no doubt they will improve their credit ratings, which in turn will lead to more attractive stock prices, more speculation on my part.
"That's bear country"!
Anyone who could come up with snidely_K_whiplash ain't bad either.
(love the name) When I see it I think,

Today's news, 'JC Penney looking to sell its 1.8M SF Plano headquarters in a money-saving real estate deal'.
Seems the PPS is acting favorably, not negatively this AM, at least so far.
Was this the news you were worried about, or is $6.75 reentry by 2/16, still on?
I changed the date on my calendar, per your post, even though someone here said, " the boat already sailed!
Badda Bing part II
Naysayers want to know where they'll get the money. JCP said, it's the number 1 priority, and it looks they have a plan, IMO..
J.C. Penney Exploring Sale of Texas Headquarters
February 05, 2016, 09:05:00 AM EDT By Dow Jones Business News
J.C. Penney Co. said Friday that it is exploring a sale of its Plano, Texas, headquarters as part of the retailer's push to reduce its debt.
Penney said a strong real-estate market in the area, located just outside of Dallas, and an excess of available space in the three-story office building make the sale an attractive opportunity.
In addition to reducing its debt, which stood at over $5 billion as of Oct. 31, the sale would also help the company cut back on expenses. Penney would lease back space in the 1.8 million square foot building, but
the company would have reduced maintenance costs and property taxes.
PLANO, Texas (Feb. 5, 2016) - J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE:JCP) today announced that it is pursuing the potential sale and partial leaseback of its Home Office building in Plano, Texas as part of an ongoing effort to reduce outstanding debt and effectively manage expenses. A combination of favorable market conditions and a surplus of available square footage within the building make this an attractive real estate opportunity for the Company.
"With the tremendous growth and development currently taking place within Plano and North Texas, there's no better time to take advantage of this lucrative market by pursuing a sale of our Home Office real estate," said Marvin R. Ellison, chief executive officer for JCPenney. "Even as we continue to deliver positive financial results across all aspects of our business, including delivering year over year gross margin increase in the fourth quarter, this presents an ideal opportunity to reduce outstanding debt and create long-term savings for the Company."

When it comes to entertainment on a public chat board, JCP in this case, no one comes close to Sir Walterthethird.

Excuse me for butting in. Here to do some research for a family member who owns the stock.
There is a trade option where you can buy or sell at the closing PPS. For TDA that transaction must be entered no later than 3:45PM, or it will be rejected. Some wait till 3:30PM before making any decision.
Hope this helps.
Not only that snidely, He forgot to give him a sense of humor.
His Momma loves him, the rest think he's a little odd, or is it a lot odd?.
"Seems your claim of "senority" on this board doesn't mean much to Yahoo!"
Doesn't mean much to anyone, cause you don't spell seniority that way pin head!
'seniority is spelled with an I, like markitvalue.
