billions will be spent on cure and a vaccine
President Obama renewed his call Tuesday for Congress to approve $5.6 billion in emergency funding to fight Ebola, saying “we are nowhere near out of the woods yet in West Africa.”

Obama calls on lame-duck Congress to approve Ebola funding
The fact of the matter is plant-made pharmaceuticals (PMPs) is the fastest known way to produce pharmaceutical grade proteins that can be used to manufacture vaccines and bio-therapeutics in weeks versus months. Transient gene expression in plants is even quicker than the more traditional method of creating transgenic plants to produce proteins which is where iBio excels and ultimately why they have an advantage over ICON and work with Caliber.
Experts recognize that the 2009 swine flu pandemic was a wake up call. Even though ultimately there was a favorable outcome there was believed to be a much better way to respond in the future if another similar event or even worse event arises. The current widespread vaccine production methodologies in CHO cells or other cell-culture based production methods take far to long. To think that a 6 month turn around is adequate to produce a vaccine in the face of a pandemic is ludicrous. The influenza vaccines produced on a yearly basis are made based off of a prediction of the strain. Therefore, there is the chance that this billion dollar industry gets it wrong each year and the vaccine for the year was ineffective and therefore worthless. Since it takes 6 months to produce another vaccine the flu season would be over before the first batch to address the active strain is ever made. This is the Achilles heel of the current methods of production and why iBio with its patented transient gene expression technology is truly important. There is no other current modality as far advanced in its utilization to compete with the speed at which PMPs can produce protein product. With the threat of a future pandemic or bio-terrorism the world needs for PMP technology to work and iBio has the most to gain since it is the only investible pure play into this cutting edge field. The ability for IBIOlaunch to produce pharmaceutical grade proteins in days to weeks would allow a rapid response to global threat from viral outbreaks. Also, if they become successful in introducing a commercial vaccine to the influenza market they will be able to supplant the current leaders of market share due to their ability to not only cut costs but to rapidly produce vaccines to meet demand. As stated some years the flu vaccine prediction model is wrong but also there can be shortages. There has even been some announced concerns about flu vaccine shortages this year. If the strain prediction is wrong or the virus mutates, PMPs in general can produce a new vaccine at a significant amount of supply within a month to address these event. The current influenza supplies cannot vaccinate the entire population. They depend on the concept of herd immunity to create the greatest impact. The thought being if you immunize enough people they decrease the risk of others contracting the infection since some of the people cannot become infected due to vaccination in order to propagate spread. When big pharmaceuticals predict the wrong strain the impacts can be dramatic because everyone is vulnerable. Some PMP centers have already proven effectiveness in response. The GreenVax project, which was the maiden voyage of Caliber Biotherapeutics, and Medicago under a rapid fire test from DARPA were able to rapidly produce a vaccine to H1N1. The GreenVax results have been kept confidential but noted a success. Medicago was able to produce 10 million doses in a month which garnered more funding from DARPA.
there is no selling of 100 million unless needed for some big project or to show they have funds available to them if they needed for major contracts.
I have seen this happen a few times and the news came later and it was big the PPS went X 5-10
