The company traded where it is without the merger announcement for a reason. It is an a market that is just in it's infancy when compared to how far the "market" can grow - I'm talking about the Internet-Of-Things. There are so many possibilities for improving how we do things at home, on the road, at our workplace, in our bodies....NXPI's technologies is on the bleeding edge and they will continue to innovate and lead the push into yet to be conceived applications - no one trick pony here..
I think the risk and valuations s at this level are reasonable - currently, 22 analysts have price targets above 100, with one that has an $85.
And when they complete the acquisition of FSL, their dominance in the automobile will be even greater. Partnerships with Panasonic on infotainment systems, part of Apple-Pay technology as well as smart-card chip technology, in every auto-key FOB...just to name of few of the reasons this company is in all the right areas...$100+ easily in 2016
Just market pressure... often a little weak in early trading... earnings catalyst still on the horizon....
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Market opportunities are expanding everyday for AMBA technology. Companies need their superior technology and this will fuel sales and earnings...not to mention potential acquisition. Cameras are everywhere - why wouldn't an Apple, or Samsung, or Taser, or Garmin or any of the other big players consider buying AMBA? I think there is a good potential for this...but, that is just my opinion.
They will do great on their own, one way of the other.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I wonder how much they need to spend on advertising when it is done for them? Practically sells itself!
What a wonderful business to be in when your product is being marketed for you by ever TV manufacturer in the world! Many, Many captured audiences.
Current weakness definitely bargain price...buyers will move in, but probably later in the day. The holiday season, colder weather, shorter days will defiantly draw people into the service: More TV watchers during the holidays and families don't mind treating themselves to Netflix for the convenience it provides.
News on wires is that Ambarella has been granted a FORM CT order - what exactly is it that they needed this order? Suddenly the price is weak... smells bad.
Anybody can shed any light on this SEC filing?
At least 5 directors were given what amounts to a quarter million dollars worth of shares EACH (at current prices) yesterday. How does one interpret this? Bullish, bearish, neutral? They vest 25% each quarter, but still don't understand the timing...
NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) 15% reduction in 4Q15 guidance is to correct some of the inventories that built up in the past quarter. Ex-inventory alignment, guidance would have only been down low to mid-single digits. NXPI does not think it has lost any market share or key designs and sees weakness as a "pause" and expects demand to improve.
There were 3 areas of weakness:
Autos- the weakness in 4Q15 was driven by infotainment, car-radio aftermarket weakness in Japan and China, and increased channel inventory.
Secure interfaces and Power- NXPI noted the down 20-30% guide reflects weakness in the China basestation market and order delays
Secure connected devices- China handset OEMs delayed implementing NFC but NXPI expects to see China OEMs to ramp NFC in 2016
NXPI continues to see overall 10% top line growth on a 3-year CAGR, given trends in Automotive and NFC.
NXPI believes the Freescale Semi merger approval is tracking to expectations and approval should be given in early 4Q.
Vijay Rakesh from Mizuho believes the guide is much more aggressive than the end demand trends suggest as NXPI corrects inventory. Maintain Buy rating and $140 PT.
- Needham & Company maintained a Strong Buy rating on NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ: NXPI), and put the price target to $100.00
- Mizuho Securities reiterated a Buy rating and $120.00 price target
The weak hands sell like crazy and move lie blind sheep to the cliffs edge, as smart money grabs their shares as the sheep fall to their miserable death.
I believe the initial drop / reaction to the revenue miss somewhat justifiable - but despite the near term headwinds, I believe once the FSL acquisition begins adding to their earnings power ($9-10, op margin 30%), the big guys will be rolling right back in. Remember, these guys are in everything that is exploding right now (IoT, NFC, connected autos, digital wallet, ets...)....a sure buy right here.
Overreactions here, although GPRO numbers were disappointing. Theire reference to their newer products seems to point to greater revenue opportunities for AMBA - they are using more cameras (the spherical camera has 6, and another VR cam has 16), and thus I believe this could flow-thru to greater unit sales for Ambarella.
No reason to run..... remember, while GPRO may not have SOLD as much as anticipated, they still had to buy Ambarellas products.
Still don't mind these prices given the current LOWERED price target remains $75 and above.
I doubt you are long, if your posting messages with fear mongering headlines. You are about to lose your shirt...stay tuned.
The slow and steady climb back up to 60-70 is underway - GPRO does not matter in the larger scheme of things...it's about drones and body cams, and dash cams, and municipal / retail surveillance ...and possible buyout.
In my opinion, the market has seen this coming and has already priced it into the stock price...so why the huge haircut today? What are we missing? Competition has been spoke about for weeks, if not months and the price has suffered accordingly. Now, today they essentially beat but they get further pummeled...doesn't make sense.
Future earning are going to be robust enough - it has a .52 PEG for Christsake!
The whole sector is weak today - simple overreaction.
Stay calm...no justifiable reason for the sharp sell-off....calmer minds will see though the noise and buyers will start snatching up shares.
You'll be happy you grabbed shares at this level - low PE, getting lower as share is temporarily depressed. Making serious money - lower prasm is a result of added capacity - they've added to their fleet in preparation of adding flights in order to steal away business from American and others...
Holding here.. will move back up to 40 soon enough..
