Jeff Beck, iRobot's COO, will be leaving by year's end, and his duties will largely be replaced by Paolo Piranian, iRobot's CTO, Paolo Piranian, was acquired along with the acquisition of Evolution Robotics (and it's I.P. about a year ago). Piranian is a total stud and will kick#$%$ now that he has the reigns. Great move, iRobot. I now expect the Evolution of iRobot's products to advance at a much more rapid clip. Hold on for a fast ride!!!
That 5 Toxic Stock article is utter rubbish, and even appears to be regurgitated trash (note the Summer reference). I have never read more bloviating hoppicock than what I read in that joke of an article.
Are you kidding me??? iRobot just announce huge improvements in their flagship business! And this does not at all diminish their other activities (like Ava). They just dug a deeper moat, which is not trivial. iRobot is all about developing new things while remaining PROFITABLE!!! Their new Roomba will keep the cash flow positive as they venture into new areas.
When I first read the iRobot press release about the new 800 Series Roomba, I felt a tad bit underwhelmed. Maybe I was hoping for Mint-like navigation or something more grand. But upon further reflection, I feel that iRobot has really made a great leap in its core business: It has "built a better mousetrap". Up to 50% better cleaning. A much more powerful motor. Much more focused and stronger suction. Lower maintenance requirements, with no more hair getting wrapped repeatedly around the sweeper. A longer-life battery. All significant upgrades and all at once. Bravo, iRobot. You have focused on significantly improving what matters most. Bravo!!!
I am convinced that iRobot's share price will see a nice jump this quarter, as news is imminent about (1) the new Roomba vacuum cleaner release in time for holiday shopping; (2) the new AVA 500 distributor deal for security services (adding to InTouch Health and Cisco Telepresence), demonstrating the broadening range of activities that the AVA platform can be used for; (3) the strength of the new iRobot TV advertisements, which are EXCELLENT; and (4) the new ETF focusing on Robotics, which includes iRobot and will bring additional attention and interest to individual stocks in the ETF's portfolio.
