If SOB related to lung conditions, with your information provided, your pulmonologists may have to consider rare possibility of interstitial lung disease (UIP, NSIP.....) and a chest x-Ray can provide lots of information for them. What do I know?
SOB can be related to lung or heart conditions, and could be very serious. It looks like you have been suffering for years with recent exacerbation. Inhaler over the counter is most for airways. There are some important and serious conditions can be recognized by most physicians and not necessary to be pulmonologists. I would suggest you get your primary physician or go to ER and have these Drs run some important tests that include simple chest x-Ray, EKG and blood tests. Even your pulmonologists would like to have these tests done in addition to their specialty tests. Just my opinion and hope this help.
