That would turn out to be a good buy.
This seems very cheap here. Look at what HA has done compared to GOL over past two years. Time for some catch up?
urban_phantom, why do you even care if some clown gives you a thumbs up or down? I can post a basic factual thing and get an automatic thumbs down from someone who either did not like a previous political post, or something else, so they will thumbs down anything. Seriously, I can post puppies are cute, and get a thumbs down, but who cares? I hardly ever use the feature myself. I won't be posting much for about a month as much of it will be spent in Cuba and won't be on the net much; certainly nothing as frivolous as Yahoo message board.
...own options in it. But when it was up about 40 cents you posted "let the dump begin". Now it is up over $1 or 11%. Do you own any, or know anything about PBR? Do you think that you can affect the price of a share in a big cap by posting on the YHOO message board?. What a clown you are!
This guy ozutk_wizard is a clown. He has already made a fool of himself on the NOK board, He knows very little about PBR or investing in general. Nice call though on the PBR "dump" today.
...reserves come into play. If PBR were a private company w/o Brazil baggage then it would be $30 now easy.
be careful dcifelix97, some tool like ozutk will claim you are me. There are a number of posters on this board as well as on PBR, GOL, INTL, MSFT and other boards too and many share my views on various companies and even politics when it turn to that. Am I also that cleeve.guy, and/or Banannas, dornpac, etc.? Is every poster whom knows little about investing and shows poor usage of the English language ozutk_wizard?
monitise390, you are right, I do spend a lot of time on it, and options are not for everyone. Indeed very risky and something like 90% expire worthless. I do better than that but still lose on something like 50% of my options. Options are a tool, but they do limit your risk. For anyone who wants to try them I suggest start small to get the hang of it. NOK Jan 2016 leaps with a $10 strike are about 50 cents now so you can buy 10 contracts and control 1000 shares of NOK for just $500. If NOK is under $10 in Jan 2016 you lose all your money. But if NOK goes to say $14 they are worth $4000. If old Lee Stoller is right and NOK is $20 by then your $500 is worth $10k. Now to buy 1000 shares of NOK now it would cost you $8,000 and if it goes to $20 you make $12k. But if it goes to $5 you lose $3k while the most you can lose on that option purchase is the $500 you put into it. I have a lot of those Jan 2016's as I think it is a good risk/reward.
Thanks for the compliment, ozutk_wiz!. I'm not Texas but at least she/he taught you how to use "You're" vis a vis "your". Actually I went from $5500 to approx. $28k on PBR options (Jan. 2015 leaps strike $15- for those who grasp options, which is clearly you do not) in under six months last spring/ summer. Though if I had held to the very top that could have been $61k, but if I held until now that $5500 would be all but worthless. That's what can happen in options when a stock goes from $10 to $20, and then back to $10 in six months. My most recent PBR options buy is back to about even now with todays gain, but I have lots of time. You do understand that it is not what a shock/option does from its low to high, but where you get in and outl, right? You are so small time and dumb that it is really funny.
...are not very bright. And yes, I was paid to post that.
Happens so often. This stock should be $10, not in the $7's
because all the money made on NOK was about a year ago and due to MSFT buyout. For a year now-under Suri- NOK is down, even though it was set up with tons of cash.. I made a lot last year on NOK and put much of that in new NOK and so far (about a year) it has been a dismal performer while other things I hold have done well, and the market is at all time highs.
Why do you think Dodge and Cox gave up on NOK? Why doesn't NOK just whip out $1.2 of their something like $8B net cash and pay D&C $8 a share for those 150 mil shares. It would take selling pressure off the shares and get it over with fast and everyone would benefit. NOK would get the shares cheap. Indeed why not offer $8 a share for up to one billion shares in a Dutch auction and get NOK share count below 2.7 billion, (or 700 million shares for at $8 for 5.6B- leaving them with lots of cash still- and getting the share count at least below 3 bil.???
....going to wake up and do a serious share buy back instead of getting no share value or much return on all that cash?.
The special dividend was a mistake that was a tax giveaway to Finnish Gov. The regular div. is necessary as it greatly expands the number of potential buyers/holders of the shares, (i.e. certain institutions who require a divs., regular income seekers, etc.). A 3% or so div. that can be paid out of earnings is fine. But to just sit on all that cash while the shares trade so low is absurd. What better investment can NOK make than buying NOK shares (and retire them, not give them to execs.) at these low levels. They need to reduce that way too many shares outstanding, which will lower the PE and raise the share price. Most of us are after capital gains and there have been none for a year now in a strong market.
..., so far- per usual? Let's hope it turns around and heads up today but NOK still seems to be a chronic underperformer. And they get no credit as NOK sits on so much cash (much like AAPL has been way undervalued for so long with all its cash). If NOK is a good value here (and I think it is but have for a year) then the company should show some faith and invest in its shares by buying about $5 to $7B worth.
Y#$%$hoo is biz#$%$rre. I don#$%$ know why they turned don#$%$ into don#$%$ in my l#$%$test post. Nothing obscene or lewd written by me. I c#$%$n #$%$ccept just up 30 cents or less tod#$%$y #$%$s long #$%$s we get #$%$nother 30 cents or so tomorrow. Otherwise we #$%$re still net down on gre#$%$t news (e#$%$rnings, m#$%$rgins, etc.)
...up days in a row Where are those firms who like NOK (i.e. don#$%$ have some sort of agenda to try and drive it down even though it is cheap on fundamentals) with their reiterations of $12 target prices, etc.?
