The conserved region of Zika and Dengue viruses are probably the same. We have a PPMO for Dengue in the hands of Walter Reed researchers for many years. The toxicity of the conjugate really doesn't factor since treatment is of short duration.
We probably can treat the MCR1 Ecoli bacteria as well. There are no treatments available for either, and the trials would be short.

My service is meaningless. However, I had the honor of meeting real American heroes, who should be remembered with gratitude, especially today.

    Maury,
On this important day, shame on you. While I served during the Vietnam War, I had the honor of meeting and serving with some of the finest and patriotic individuals then I've ever met before or since. Unfortunately, many never came home.
For you to call their sacrifice a waste is beyond belief.
If you promise to leave this blessed country permanently, I'd be happy to buy you that one way ticket. Loser!

JMHO...Dr. Woodcock may be asking all 13 members of ADCOM to answer one additional question. EG...."Taking everything you've learned at the meeting into consideration, including testimonies, do you think this drug should be approved"? I'm certain the answer would be, YES.
This will give her the gravitas to approve Etep.

I've been around for a little while. I've only witnessed one person, such as yourself, Starfe, who knows very little yet talks, talks, talks.
Believe me you are absolutely ignorant.
Do us all a favor, shut up and go away. You know nothing, and add nothing to the conversation.
This is really a very important time in biotech, respect that, go away. You will be doing your country a service.

Both for genetic, and anti viral applications, and more, this platform simply is efficacious. There are no side effects, and have various models. Eg. PPMO and PMO plus.
    Time will prove this so.
Hopefully Thursday will be the first of many recognitions.

As I've said here for over 20 years, the cream will always float to the top.
This drug will be approved in some fashion. Guaranteed.

  • We shall see soon, but I think she is sincere, and a good person. If she's not, she will eventually have to answer. May 26 will tell.

The competitor you cite is at least 5 years behind, and has not stated any toxicity issues.
BTW.... I've been reading your posts and have determined that you are both ignorant and poorly informed.

They have yet to begin formal animal trials, and then must begin applications for human trials. They are many years out of an NDA, and then years to conduct human trials. They are also very secretive concerning their mechanism of action, therefore it's impossible to evaluate their claims.
I wish them well, but our boys can't wait.

You forgot a few things indicating your ignorance.
    1. Manufacturing a very expensive drug, Etep, to be ready for launch.
    2. Setting up and running several trials, including a large Phase 3 trial for Etep, as well as trials for other exons for Duchenne.
    3. Research in other areas of Morpholino Antisense applications.

You obviously know nothing about the many disease areas that this platform can combat.

I've never seen shorts this frightened. This drug will be approved in some fashion. Guaranteed. It matters not what these shorts have to say.
If they believe that upper management are ready to commit political suiside, they're nuts. Approval is for sure. No question.

The cream always rises to the top. This drug will be approved, and with no toxicity.......Why not? God bless these boys, both in the trial and those who can benefit, although not in the present trial.

There was a basis for their decision. When did we ever hear that according to Western Blot, we have increased dystrophin production by only .98 percent of normal?
However, the kids are improving, and even biochemically they are improving.
There are changes going on, yet we really can't explain why with this very complex disease with ranges of dystrophin all over the place.
We are left with a situation where kids are improving on a drug that has no side effects.
Again, if you look at risk, which there are none, and rewards, which are fabulous, approve the damn drug! Why not???

You could see on Farkas's face sadness that he had done such a good statistical job.
I believe after listening to the 52 speakers, he regretted the outcome. This is just my impression.
With no side effects, I still believe there is a chance of some sort of approval.
Remember, there were 108 congressmen and senators who signed a petition encouraging passage. They control funding for the FDA next year.
Again May 26 will tell the results.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Approval or not depends on the sincerity of Dr Woodcock. If she was present to demonstrate that she did whatever she could to positively influence the panel in order to get her person off the political hook, which she did, the drug will not be approved.
If on the other hand, she was sincere, the drug will be approved citing the risk/reward. What is the risk? None, no side effects exist. The reward? All patients are thriving even though the mechanism is not fully understood.
I'm hoping she gives these kids a chance and gives this dug conditional approval. We shall se May 26 th.
