It was looking like I was going to be able to pick up some cheap shares, less than 16 and headed even lower before the january distribution. You are not helping my game plan. & have you seen alon?!! only $2. to go for break even. How are you doing as the oil Baron? Happy Thanksgiving! mo
selling losers and adding to winners was also a common theme. tiny lre has been my tenbagger - up over 84,000 after my many shares are covered. then there is evep where I am down almost 94,000 from holding it too long.
I did consistently well until my sister finally died after many years as a chronic pain patient during which time my jealous spouse made it almost impossible for me to see her. she had a way of making us laugh at the mean people in our lives - as well as at our reactions to them.
thanks again for helping me get back on track,
it is easy to understand but started getting bogged down by chap 4 and started skipping around - not my mindset. rather than miss anything, I will get back to it this weekend. so far, this is what I got.
there is a common theme against diversification making the whole book worth reading as you must know. I am happy with all my vnr and will be working harder on making it grow more. it was the continual big red 8 making me doubt myself. I am glad I stayed out of line. evep didn't fit my plan and was getting rid of it just before reading something about a turkey trap. lre has so few shares out and I am glad to have so much of it. (I bought a bunch of bbep years ago a few days before they discontinued the distribution, sold it and never looked back although tempted)
hoping not to offend anyone. this is just what I got applicable to myself. thanks for the book.
best to you and everyone else, mo
He does alright. I am working my way back to 1&2 - just got momentarily distracted but am back on track, thanks.
re biker, I seem to keep about the same amount of vnr no matter how much I sell. it has been so profitable I tend to take it for granted.
b&w, Thanks for the wonderful quote!! and your words of wisdom!! I am paying attention. vnr has been so profitable for me that it has provided the resources for the mistakes I have made the last few years for which I am very grateful. guess maybe I will always need more, thanks again.
Although I also believe vnr is the best and it gives great distributions every month, optionshouse has been continually placing a risk score of a big red 8 on the top of my account with the explanation of needing to reduce my position in vnr because of what it will do to my portfolio if vnr falls. The only way this tag ever temporarily changes colors is if I buy a different stock - very manipulative, disconcerting and negatively affects the amount of margin I am allowed. (don’t remember their ratio)
I ordered a copy of the neatest little guide to stock market investing 2013, thank you again.
gotcha ed, looks like you do have a good list that covers about everything,
that’s kind of how I feel when I am out and see alon on the 7/11 signs. (7/11 stock is selling on the nikkei for about $35. as 3382) I shouldn’t ask this until it goes back up but what could be more cost effective than manufacturing and selling your own product??!!
I was asking about line because it is supposed to be such a big deal gorilla but I finally get it. sometimes you have to tell me (or not tell me) more than once.
It looks like you got vnr at an excellent price last dec. I believe as you do which is why vnr has been making up half of most of my portfolios - need to consolidate. do you have a favorite brokerage?
thank you for your patience and your plan. I am still working on my investor mind set with which you helped again.
good luck to you also,
B&W I have noticed that if I had as much money invested in line as I have in vnr, it would amount to a lot more in distributions per month and year but there are a lot of other factors to consider. at this bad time for line, it is almost $2.00 (26.84) cheaper and about .04 or .05 more per share in distributions per month but would appreciate your thoughts before doing anything as respect what you have done for yourself.
there is so much posting on the line board that it is hard to know what is going on over there.
have been enjoying your posts, ed. it is obvious you are not a liar posting success stories after all the information is in. thanks for your encouragement. I do have more of a profit in lre than anything else in my portfolio - sounds like you do also. no more selling for me but keeping and adding if it goes down again. have a good weekend!
sorry guys, I meant that as a rhetorical question because john walker sure doesn't need any more shares! I agree with the above positive remarks & should've titled this differently.
EV Energy (NASDAQ:EVEP) Chairman John B. Walker bought 135,000 shares of EV Energy stock on the open market in a transaction that occurred on Friday, October 18th. The shares were purchased at an average price of $36.86 per share, for a total transaction of $4,976,100.00. The purchase was disclosed in a document filed with the SEC, which is available
excellent post. there are usually 2 of them that show up on the lre board going back and forth every time the stock is doing well.
thanks, they do have quite a price spread.
thanks for telling me where to find it , Ed. now even more glad I added to my investment shares today. should have started a little sooner with all the attention lre has been getting recently.
I was a little wrong. last year, ex was on the 4th fri, the 26th, the week before the last week of the month.
Lrr Energy L.P. (NYSE:LRE) is now covered by analysts at UBS AG. They set a "buy" rating on the stock. no, I didn't notice a target price.
it should be the last week of this month if they do what they have been doing so far. cheap shares today.
Thanks for trying but still don't understand from all the reading so am not going to follow with another question for clarification about all their groups. Sounds like they have a lot more going on than just lre.
I have a lot of lre but with the share price still cheap enough to buy, hold & appreciate, am trying to decide if I want more because of the big upcoming distribution in a couple of weeks.
